Why we chose Seolleung over the fully booked Seongsu branch

I met up with a friend who came up from out of town for the first time in a while and we visited Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch haha. We'd originally planned to go to the Seongsu branch, but the reservations were full 😭😭 Luckily there's a Seolleung branch too, so I booked it right away — lucky me, haha.

What two people paid: 46,000 won for tenderloin and sirloin
We ordered tenderloin (₩24,000) + sirloin (₩19,000) + Zero Coke (₩3,000) = ₩46,000 total. Pretty reasonable price for two people eating in Seolleung, haha.

Reserved window seat and the mini okonomiyaki review event
Since we'd booked ahead, there was a reserved-seat sign at our window table haha. They said writing a review would get us a free mini okonomiyaki too, so of course we joined in! haha

Ordering by Table Pay and writing a review without a receipt
This part was so cool. We ordered through a website called Table Pay, and the order info linked directly to Naver, meaning you could write a receipt review without an actual receipt!! So surprising and convenient.

Gyuen Dang was even thoughtful enough to include instructions on how to eat the omurice haha.

What comes with the tenderloin gyukatsu set at Gyuen Dang
I got the tenderloin! The sauce had this ginger-y soy sauce vibe. It comes as a full set with rice, soup, cabbage salad, sauce, wasabi and salt — such a generous spread. But most of all, the meat itself looked amazing 👍👍

The sirloin gyukatsu and its teriyaki sauce
My friend got the sirloin, with sweet teriyaki sauce. The base setup was the same, just the sauce was slightly different.

Gyukatsu breading and the fun of grilling each slice yourself
So pretty,, wait, is the outside of gyukatsu normally battered like this?? I honestly haven't been to many gyukatsu places, so this was my first time seeing the breading done this way. The moment I picked it up it looked so crispy that my heart started racing — as someone obsessed with crunchy textures, I was thrilled.
Eating it with a little salt or wasabi really brought out the meat flavor more, so that combo was my favorite. Dipping it in the sauce gave a richer, deeper flavor, so alternating between the two was great haha.

I flipped it over diligently and tasted a bit of the breading, and it was so delicious!! Freshly fried, so incredibly crispy ㅠㅠ

I dipped it in the sauce, and the soft tenderloin combined with the crispy breading for double the nutty flavor!! The ginger sauce kind of cuts the richness, I think.

I also got to try my friend's sirloin! The teriyaki sauce really suited my taste,, why is this so good!!

Grilling the beef cutlet in butter halfway through
They said you could grill in butter to your taste, so partway through we switched to butter, which made it even richer and nuttier — personally I preferred grilling in butter!

The mini okonomiyaki we got from the review event
The mini okonomiyaki we got from the review event haha. First time trying this too — it was piled high with bonito flakes, so it looked amazing right off the bat ㅜ Even though it's mini, it has everything a proper okonomiyaki should, and it instantly made me crave a beer 🥹🥹 This place is great with teriyaki sauce too,,

Who will enjoy gyukatsu at Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch?
They even had disposable floss picks in the restroom? Great attention to detail,, this could be a nice spot for a blind date too! haha
My friend had come all the way from out of town, so I felt some pressure to take them somewhere good — and I was so proud that they enjoyed the meal so much haha. Overall, if you love the combo of crispy breading and juicy meat, this is a satisfying place to eat. The gyukatsu especially is fun since you grill small pieces yourself to your own taste — I had a great meal here 🫶
