Seolleung date restaurant with no weekend wait: Gyuen Dang gyukatsu
In short
Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch is a gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) and hambagu omurice Japanese restaurant on the second floor of a red brick building, a 3-minute walk from Seolleung Station Exit 1 in Gangnam, Seoul. On a Saturday evening there was no wait at all, and the tenderloin gyukatsu at 24,000 won and hambagu omurice at 17,000 won arrived with a mini brazier for about 20 seconds of grilling per slice, best with the soy-based sauce. With 50 to 60 seats across two halls and baby chairs on hand, Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch suits a date and a family meal alike.

Just so you know, this post was written after receiving partial support, but I'm writing it honestly.
Don't you ever have those days? When you don't want the usual sushi, bunsik (Korean street food), pork cutlet, or grilled meat, but something a bit different! So today I'm introducing Gyuen Dang in Seolleung, a great date spot and a favorite among office workers, known for gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) and hambagu omurice (Japanese hamburger steak omelet rice). (Visited Sat, Sept 12, 2026) Looks like it opened in September 2026!

Where is Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch, and what does the entrance look like?
Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch is within 3 minutes on foot from Seolleung Station Line 2 Exit 1, at 2F, 26 Seolleung-ro 86-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The red brick building really stands out~

It's a 2nd floor shop! You just walk up the stairs

Tenderloin gyukatsu and hambagu omurice prices at Gyuen Dang
What we ordered at Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch was the tenderloin gyukatsu for 24,000 won and the hambagu omurice for 17,000 won. I decided on the whole menu right from the entrance haha
- Tenderloin gyukatsu - ₩24,000
- Hambagu omurice - ₩17,000
I agonized 38,000 times between tenderloin and striploin, but since it was my first time, I went with the signature tenderloin! If the price feels a bit much, striploin should still be plenty delicious!

The 'Gyuen' has a fire character written with two flame radicals 😎

Is there a wait on a weekend evening? What about weekday lunch?
We got in right away on a weekend evening at Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch! For office workers on weekday lunches, it looks like you can check and join a remote waitlist through Catch Table☺️

Inside Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch: seating and baby chairs
The Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch space is largely split into two sections! Here's the right hall!

And here's the left hall! Combined, it's a spacious restaurant that seats about 50 to 60 people haha

How long to grill the gyukatsu: 15 to 20 seconds
Gyuen Dang's instructions say not to overcook the gyukatsu, grilling it for about 15 to 20 seconds. Occupational habit (?) made me read the whole thing carefully, word for word 😂 My personal take: even cooked, the inside stays close to medium-rare, so I found around 20 seconds tastiest

A cute little brazier

Baby chairs are fully stocked, so it's a great place to bring the family too

This isn't a painting, by the way — it's a photo haha

The whole table setup looks so clean

How the hambagu omurice tastes
Gyuen Dang's hambagu omurice at 17,000 won was an overall well-balanced dish where the meat, sauce, egg, and rice all matched perfectly. Doesn't it look a bit like Chunsik (the cartoon cat)? No wonder the omurice looked so cute.. lol
The heat coming off it is no joke!

Which sauce goes best with the tenderloin gyukatsu
For the tenderloin gyukatsu, the classic combo is salt plus wasabi haha but honestly that soy-based sauce blew me away! It felt like the tare sauce you'd dip yakiniku (grilled meat) in.. it made me think of Japan 😭 I wanted to mix it into three bowls of rice lol
The meat is almost medium-rare, and it just melts as you eat it..!

In the evening, Gyuen Dang Seolleung's soft lighting is so pretty too haha. Now that my stomach's nice and full, I'm off to college. Which school, you ask?
