Gangnam café by Yangjaecheon with window seats and cream cake

In short

Minimale Bakery & Coffee Bar Gaepo Branch is a bakery café in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, not far from Yangjaecheon stream. In a black-and-stainless interior lit by a huge floor-to-ceiling window, the writer paired the signature Helsinki Latte and an Americano with a milk cream cake picked from the showcase. Open from 7:30am on weekdays, it's a solid spot to grab morning coffee and dessert in one place.

I was looking for somewhere near Gaepo-dong to get coffee and dessert together, and that's how I ended up at Minimale Bakery & Coffee Bar Gaepo Branch.

It's not far from Yangjaecheon stream either, so it's a nice stop before or after a walk, and since it opens at 7:30am it's also handy on days when you need coffee early^^

The sunlit vibe of this Gaepo-dong café

The first thing that caught my eye walking in was the huge floor-to-ceiling window. Sunlight pours in pretty generously near the window, and the interior leans heavily on black and stainless materials, giving it an overall clean look. The tables and chairs are simple too, no unnecessary flourishes.

I personally like this kind of plain, understated interior more than an overly decorated café. Since you can see the trees and street right outside the window, it doesn't feel stuffy even in daytime. A good atmosphere for sitting down with a coffee and resting for a bit ♡

What's on the coffee menu

The counter has an open layout too, so it was easy to browse the menu while ordering, and the coffee lineup was more varied than I expected. You can choose your beans for the Americano, and there's decaf too, so it's easy to pick according to taste.

Among the signature menu items I spotted the Helsinki Latte and the British Einspänner. I usually go for Americano at cafés, but this time I ordered the Helsinki Latte too since the name alone made me curious ♡

Too tempting to just stick with coffee — the bakery case

If you're looking for a bakery café by Yangjaecheon, the showcase is worth a look. It wasn't just one or two kinds of cake — milk cream cake, New York cheesecake, tiramisu, chocolate cake, and more were all lined up, with packaged baked goods displayed below.

Helsinki Latte + Americano + milk cream cake

The Helsinki Latte I was curious about turned out to be one of Minimale's signature coffees. Ordered iced, it looked delicious right from the color where the milk and coffee mixed. I almost just went with a plain Americano, but I tend to try a signature drink at least once, so I picked this haha

What really caught my eye that day was, of course, the milk cream cake ♡ Up close, there's a fairly thick layer of cream between the sponge layers, so you get sponge and cream together in one bite. There's plenty of cream piled on top too, so if you like cream cake, this one will catch your eye.

With a slice of cake and two cups of coffee on the table, it was also just right for a casual café date.

Why it's worth stopping by when looking for a café near Yangjaecheon

Minimale Bakery & Coffee Bar Gaepo Branch works whether you want to grab a quick coffee and leave, or sit slowly with a cake or pastry chosen from the case.

What especially stood out was that it opens from 7:30am on weekdays. A lot of cafés these days open around 10 or 11am, so this place, open relatively early, is worth knowing about if you're looking for a morning café near Yangjaecheon!!

It's near Gaepo-dong Community Center, on the road downhill from the main gate of the National Gugak High School toward Gong Cha, so it's not hard to find ♡

Another thing I liked!! You don't need to visit a separate café and bakery. With several coffee options and cakes ready to pick from the showcase, there are plenty of menu choices when you go for dessert in Gaepo-dong.

I had the milk cream cake that day, but I also saw New York cheesecake and tiramisu in the showcase, so next time I might pick something different. 👍

When you want to rest for a bit with a coffee near Yangjaecheon, and want cake or pastry alongside coffee rather than coffee alone, this café fits well. Above all I liked the clean space with sunlight coming through the big window, and the combination of Helsinki Latte + Americano + milk cream cake I had that day was satisfying.

If you're near Gaepo-dong or Yangjaecheon and looking for a clean place to enjoy coffee and dessert rather than a too-crowded vibe, recommended 👍
