Seongsu dessert café pistachio madeleine and Signature Noir: Notldun
In short
Notldun is a dessert café on Seoul Forest 2-gil in Seongsu, Seoul. After a short wait, the writer ordered a pistachio madeleine, the Signature Noir, an americano and a decaf americano — the Noir's crispy, salty base under soft cream was a surprise twist. The bright, acidic coffee refreshed the palate between rich bites, making this a dessert-first café worth the wait.

Notldun, a dessert spot in Seongsu. We were wandering around the hip shops in Seongsu and thinking about a sugar refill when my other half mentioned a famous Seongsu dessert restaurant — so off we ran, partly to get an iced americano transfusion too, haha.
We finally made it to Notldun~ As the title says, coffee is coffee here, but this Seongsu café is so serious about its desserts that the coffee almost feels like a supporting actor making the desserts shine!? It's a Seongsu dessert spot where the dessert is the real deal — check out the review below~!

Here's the storefront of Notldun, the Seongsu dessert café with the great desserts. I loved the look — like a red-brick house with one side swapped out for a big glass wall.

There was a wait
By the time we arrived, there was already a bit of a wait. We were browsing shops around Seongsu when the KakaoTalk notification came in, and we dashed right over~!

White-toned interior
The modern, white-toned interior gave a clean, tidy impression.

True to a café that takes its desserts seriously, they were constantly being made in the kitchen right in front of us, and...

...the sun-filled, bright interior left a really good impression~

The showcase and drink menu
Notldun's two signature desserts, plus other distinctive treats and a variety of madeleines, caught our eye. The gift sets were packaged so nicely they'd make a great present.

And there was a range of coffee and tea prepared to go alongside the desserts.

Winning a dark chocolate latte through the review event would have been amazing too~

They even set napkins on the table and served us directly — a level of service different from the mostly self-serve cafés you usually find.

Pistachio madeleine, how it tasted
We started with the pistachio madeleine, since we were craving something nutty.

It looked delicious with crushed pistachio pieces piled generously on top. True to its moist cross-section, the madeleine had just the right chewy texture — soft and melting rather than dense — and the pistachio, not too hard, chewed smoothly in perfect harmony with the crumb. The ingredients and topping matched beautifully.

Signature Noir — the base is the twist
And then, the reason we came here in the first place!!! Notldun's Signature Noir!

Cutting it in half, unless you press down firmly with the knife, the base just won't cut cleanly... the bottom layer is crispy and slightly firm, and it becomes the whole point of the dessert!
At first, not knowing any better, we ate it expecting a soft mousse-cake texture throughout — the cream, the cocoa-dusted surface, all of it.

But the crisp, almost crackly texture and saltiness of the base gave a pleasantly bold contrast against the flavor of the cream on top, and that made it way more satisfying! Confirmed: this is a real Seongsu dessert spot!

Coffee as a supporting act for dessert
The coffee had some acidity and wasn't overly bold — since we usually prefer a nutty, strong flavor, it wasn't quite our first-sip preference. But paired with the desserts, that bright acidity and the coffee's lighter body refreshed the palate against the rich, nutty desserts, making them taste even better. It made me think: maybe this coffee was made specifically to be a partner for dessert, not to stand on its own. We enjoyed it a lot~!
Final thoughts
We visited Notldun, a café in Seongsu. This isn't a dessert where looks and flavor simply match — the Signature Noir has a delightful twist reminiscent of hotel-style desserts, and that's what made it so appealing. Paired with coffee that suits it well, it's clear why Notldun is known as one of the go-to Seongsu dessert spots. If you're looking for a good-vibe café in Seongsu, visiting Notldun will get you a delicious dessert you won't regret~
