Milmyeon date with no wait off-peak near Seomyeon Station, Busan
In short
Seomyeon Milmyeon is a long-running milmyeon (cold wheat noodle) restaurant a short walk from Exit 8 of Seomyeon Station in Busan. Visiting off-peak meant no waiting, and the couple's order of mul-milmyeon (cold noodles in broth), a large bibim-milmyeon (spicy mixed noodles), and dumplings delivered icy broth, chewy noodles, and thin dumpling skins. It's close to the Jeonpo Café Street, making it an easy add to a Busan trip itinerary.

Milmyeon, Busan's signature noodle dish, is something you really have to try on a Busan trip! Today I'm introducing Seomyeon Milmyeon, a place that's been famous in Seomyeon, Busan for a long time! I went to university in Busan and have been visiting the city often since my early twenties, and it's still a popular spot that lots of people seek out. It's been featured on TV multiple times, so if you're looking for a great milmyeon place in Busan, you've probably heard of it before :)
A milmyeon restaurant near Seomyeon Station, Busan — Seomyeon Milmyeon's main branch

How far is it from Seomyeon Station?
Seomyeon Milmyeon, a well-known Busan restaurant, is an easy walk from Exit 8 of Seomyeon Station, making it a good stop on a Busan trip. It's also close to the Jeonpo Café Street in Seomyeon, so it's an easy course to combine a meal with a café stop afterward!

Is there parking?
There's also a dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant, so visitors coming by car don't have to worry about parking!

How long is the wait?
Since Seomyeon Milmyeon has long been such a famous Busan restaurant, there can be a wait during peak times like weekends or mealtimes! So I visited off-peak and was able to get seated right away~

The interior is reasonably spacious and feels neatly kept overall!

They've been on TV consistently, so there are tons of autographed signs!

Menu and prices
The menu is simple haha. There are just two options — mul-milmyeon and bibim-milmyeon — each ₩10,000! Going large is only an extra ₩1,000, so for guys with a bigger appetite, ordering large is a much better deal :) I'd also recommend ordering the dumplings, which go great with milmyeon!

Tips for eating milmyeon the best way
And here's a tip for enjoying milmyeon at its best! I'd recommend not drinking too much water before the meal. Milmyeon itself comes in a pretty generous portion, so if you fill up on water first you'll get full too quickly! Rather than adding a lot of vinegar and mustard from the start, add them little by little to suit your taste. And unlike naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), you don't need to cut the noodles with scissors! Milmyeon noodles are relatively soft, so they break apart easily on their own and are easy to eat as they are :)
Mul-milmyeon ₩10,000 / Bibim-milmyeon (large) ₩11,000 / Dumplings ₩7,500
A warm broth came out first, before the ordered dishes!

And then the main dishes came out haha — the food came out really fast!

Mul-milmyeon
Cool broth topped with a bit of ice, meat garnish, and even egg! Even the basic version came in a huge portion, and since there's a bit of seasoning, I mixed it well.

I tried the broth first without adding vinegar or mustard, and the seasoning was just right for me, so I ate it as is! Having milmyeon after a while, the noodles were chewy with a flavor distinct from naengmyeon, and it was great for slurping down quickly :)

Bibim-milmyeon, large
My boyfriend, who loves noodles, went with the large haha. Getting an extra portion of noodles for just ₩1,000 more! The tangy-sweet sauce coated the noodles evenly!

The tangy, spicy-sweet sauce paired really well with the chewy milmyeon noodles, and eating it on a hot day really perked up my appetite! It's not that spicy, so even people who can't handle spice should be able to enjoy it without much trouble. Rather than being aggressively spicy, the tangy-sweet flavor was stronger, and I really enjoyed it :)

Dumplings
The dumplings came out freshly made and piping hot! The skin is very thin and chewy, making them the perfect pairing with milmyeon :)

They especially went well with the bibim-milmyeon haha. You have to try the dumplings!
Wrapping up
Busan is famous for dwaeji-gukbap (pork bone soup) too, but you really have to try milmyeon, the city's signature dish! From the cool, clean mul-milmyeon to the tangy-sweet bibim-milmyeon and the thin, chewy dumplings, everything here was delicious. If you're looking for a great milmyeon restaurant in Busan, I recommend Seomyeon Milmyeon near Seomyeon Station and the Jeonpo Café Street :)
