I went out to Gangnam for the first time in a while and found a place near Seolleung Station where you can enjoy proper Hong Kong-style roast duck — Peking duck — along with exotic Chinese dishes. The place is called Mirim Yangjang.
Of all the food I had on my Hong Kong trip, the Peking duck stuck with me the most, so I was so curious whether this place could pull off that level of flavor!! And it really did — the skin was just as crispy and fragrant, and the meat just as moist, as what I had in Hong Kong!! So good!!
I ate really well there — let me introduce Mirim Yangjang, a Peking duck spot near Seolleung Station!!
Mirim Yangjang Seolleung Branch hours: open until 2am?
Mirim Yangjang Seolleung Branch runs 12:00–02:00 from Monday to Sunday, with last order at 01:00. There's no break time either.
Mon–Sun 12:00–02:00 / Last order 01:00
Just keep the hours in mind~ A lot of times you can't make it to a second or third spot of the night because places close early, but this one runs until dawn so there's no restriction on when to visit!! And with no break time, you can drop by whenever, which is just great haha.

The exterior has that retro-yet-sleek Hong Kong feel with its LED sign haha. You go down a stairway to reach the basement-level store~

Inside Mirim Yangjang: seating and group dinners
Mirim Yangjang Seolleung Branch has an overall red-toned vibe that calls Hong Kong to mind!! Seating comes in various sizes — 2-person, 4-person and more — and the space was fairly spacious.
There's also a separate room inside that works like a private group room, so it looked great for gatherings or company dinners!! You can reserve through Naver, so booking ahead means you can walk straight in without waiting~

What we ordered: half Peking duck, fish-fragrant eggplant, egg noodles
Take a look at the menu~ There's a QR code on the table, so you scan it and order from your phone. Easy to browse and easy to order — I liked that part haha.
I went with the signature half Peking duck, plus the popular fish-fragrant eggplant and egg noodles.

The whole spread laid out haha. So generous and looked so delicious ㅎ

Half Peking duck and free wheat pancake refills
First, the Peking duck!! The glossy sheen of the skin caught my eye right away. One bite and the crispiness of the skin bursts out along with the rich flavor of savory duck fat filling your mouth. The meat wasn't dry at all — it was so moist I couldn't help but be impressed.
Wrapping it in the warm, steamed wheat pancake with thinly julienned scallion, cucumber, and the salty-sweet special sauce is an absolutely perfect combination. There was no gamey duck smell at all — it was clean and I just kept eating more and more.
And what I really loved was that once you finish the wheat pancakes and vegetables, they refill them for free~ You often end up short of the two you're given, so it was great that they refilled without any shortage.

Fish-fragrant eggplant at Mirim Yangjang
And the fish-fragrant eggplant had a perfect texture — crispy on the outside while the inside melted, savory and moist. The umami-packed sauce was loaded with ground meat and chopped scallion, making it the kind of dish that demands rice. Taking a spicy bite of the fish-fragrant eggplant between bites of the Peking duck really cut through the richness — the pairing of the two dishes was fantastic.

Hong Kong-style egg noodles
And the egg noodles weren't too strongly seasoned — just the right amount of saltiness, which made them great to eat alongside the Peking duck or the fish-fragrant eggplant. The thin, chewy texture unique to egg noodles came through well, and the crunchy bean sprouts and bok choy added some fun chewing texture. If you love noodles, this seems like a great side dish to order along with everything else!

Is Mirim Yangjang Seolleung Branch worth a late-night visit?
A place where you can soak up some Hong Kong vibes and every dish tasted better than expected haha. If you're near Seolleung looking for something different and well-executed in Chinese food, definitely check out Mirim Yangjang~~~!!!
