Sinnonhyeon bakery café with gable-roof tapestry seats: Bakerist Brown
In short
Bakerist Brown is a large bakery café in a red-brick three-story building in Gangnam, Seoul, in an alley between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. Across its four floors, from the basement to the 3rd floor, the writer took a high-ceilinged gable-roof tapestry seat on the 3rd floor and tried the 8-piece Gangnam Sand set (₩2,400 each), the signature salt cream coffee (₩7,800) and an iced Americano (₩6,500). If you want a big café with a retro mood in Gangnam, Bakerist Brown is worth the walk.

Today I'm sharing my review of Bakerist Brown, a bakery café near Sinnonhyeon Station~

Where is Bakerist Brown, and what are the hours?

On a nice-weather day like this, it feels like a waste to just stay home haha~ So after lunch I went to get a coffee at Bakerist Brown~

The red-brick three-story building and the hydrangeas at the door
Bakerist Brown sits in the alley between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station — walk up the alley and a red-brick, three-story building catches your eye on the left~

From the entrance to the small outdoor space beside it, and the panicle hydrangeas — everything was so pretty~ Right past the entrance there's an array of breads on display~

What's on the 1st-floor bread display at Bakerist Brown?
On the 1st floor at Bakerist Brown, the display had madeleines, sweet pumpkin pie, apple crumble pie, and egg tarts too~

There were also croissants, pain au chocolat, French pie, and alligator pastries~

The salt bread selection was really varied too — mentaiko, melon salt bread, and even the currently-trending wakppu ball salt bread~

The fridge case on the right had cakes and butter sandwiches~ Since figs are in season, a lot of items had figs in them~

The 1st floor also sold goods like t-shirts, not just bread — the prices were better than expected and the designs were nice too~

Four floors: finding the gable-roof tapestry seat on the 3rd floor
Bakerist Brown spans four floors, from the basement to the 3rd floor~ The photos on the staircase down to the basement and the tapestries hanging on the walls left an impression~
The interior is mostly white, and since it's a renovated old building, it has a really vintage feel — kind of like the cafés in Seongsu-dong~
I sat on the 3rd floor, which also had a gorgeous tapestry decoration~
The 3rd floor has a high ceiling with pendant lights hanging inside the gable roof~ Even the peeling paint on the ceiling had a stylish look to it~

I really love cafés with this kind of vibe these days~
Ordering the signature menu at Bakerist Brown
I ordered an iced Americano, the signature salt cream coffee, and the 8-flavor Gangnam Sand set~

Gangnam Sand cookie sandwiches (₩2,400 each)
Each Gangnam Sand has its own name — Cream Forest, Peanut Butter Wave, Black Grain, Golden Hour, London Fog, Rich Ganache, and more~

The colors and flavors were so varied and pretty, they'd make a great gift~ The Cream Forest with matcha and cream cheese, and the Black Grain with black sesame and cream, were delicious~
Salt cream coffee (₩7,800)
I ordered the salt cream coffee since it's the signature menu item~ Visually it looked exactly like an Einspänner, but the cream was really salty~

It wasn't like salt was just sprinkled on top — the cream itself was seasoned~ The cream was sweet yet salty, and the coffee had acidity with sweetness — really unique and tasty, the kind of thing I'll randomly think about again~
Iced Americano (₩6,500)
The iced Americano had a slight acidity to it~

Not intensely acidic, just a good balance with the bitterness~ When eating something sweet like the sand, an iced Americano definitely pairs well~
Is Bakerist Brown a good Gangnam café to linger in?
The exterior of the café was so pretty and the interior was full of variety too, which I loved~ The breads and cakes were really diverse and all looked delicious~
It's really crowded on weekends, so next time I want to try a weekday morning visit~
For anyone near Gangnam Station or Sinnonhyeon Station looking for a great-atmosphere bakery café, or anyone who loves large retro-feeling cafés — I recommend this one~
