In short
Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Gangdong, Seoul, serving aged pork with minari. We ordered Gim Sukseong Special 2, with pork neck, samgyeopsal, gabrisal, marinated raw crab rice, and truffle jjagechi. A great choice for a relaxed, staff-grilled pork feast.

When you want effortless aged samgyeopsal near Cheonho Station
Home cooking is lovely, but don’t you sometimes desperately crave a piece of meat that someone else has carefully grilled for you? 🥩 While looking for thick, properly aged meat paired with fragrant vegetables, I found Gim Sukseong, a pork BBQ restaurant near Cheonho Station!

There can often be a wait during evening peak hours (6:30–8:00 PM). If Naver reservations are available, I recommend booking ahead; arriving about 30 minutes outside peak time will get you seated much more comfortably.
Warm retro atmosphere and the complimentary table spread
Thanks to the soft, warm lighting, the interior feels cozy and full of a distinctly retro mood.

The complimentary dishes set down as soon as you sit are enough to make you gasp.

From sweet-spicy yangnyeom gejang (marinated raw crab), an irresistible rice companion, to sharply fermented green-onion kimchi and myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves) that cuts through the richness, everything arrives neatly arranged.

There are also four dipping sauces for the meat: anchovy fish sauce, cheese salt, house-made ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), and shiitake soy sauce. The cheese salt, which brings a nutty cheese flavor and savory saltiness at once, was a hidden card that instantly elevated the meat’s own umami.

Gim Sukseong Special 2 with minari
We ordered Gim Sukseong Special 2, the recommended menu for two. It comes generously packed with two portions of thick pork neck and a 250 g limited aged-pork assortment of samgyeopsal (pork belly) and gabrisal (pork collar).
The biggest draw here is that the staff take charge of all the grilling!
Just as the meat reaches that perfect crisp-outside, tender-inside finish, they load the grill with potatoes, mushrooms, and a heaping pile of minari (water parsley), practically a whole bunch.

Pairing the meat with minari softened fragrantly in the pork fat means you can keep eating endlessly without it ever feeling greasy. 🌿

The gabrisal I remember most
Of all the cuts, my clear number-one pick was the gabrisal. The moment I bit into it, the juices burst across my mouth, and its wonderfully tender texture was simply art.

A spoonful of the spicy kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), served as a complimentary dish, refreshes your palate right away.

Side dishes that finished the meal beautifully
The side dishes that brought the meal to its finale were another succession of delightful surprises.

The yangnyeom gejang bap, with umami-rich crab meat and nutty seaweed flakes, was so delicious that I gasped as soon as I took a spoonful,

while the deeply flavored truffle jjagechi showed exactly how satisfying that sweet-and-salty balance can be.
Who Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch suits
- Anyone who wants a comfortable meal without grilling the meat themselves
- Anyone who loves aged pork paired with minari
- Anyone who considers high-quality side dishes important
I was very satisfied to be served meat grilled to perfection while we could sit face-to-face and chat comfortably. If you are looking for a Cheonho Station pork BBQ spot that works equally well for a hearty meal or a cheerful drinking occasion, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Gim Sukseong!
