Anseong café for melon bingsu and salt bread: Chat Baker
In short
Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café is a large bakery brunch café near the Anseong Farm Land entrance in Anseong, Gyeonggi. After looking around its roomy, LP-filled space, I had salt bread, an iced Americano, and melon bingsu that somehow kept disappearing even when I was full. Verdict: the melon and milk-ice combination was especially delicious.

Bingsu and brunch menu
First, let’s look at the menu~ I couldn’t get a photo of the drink menu, but shall we look at the bingsu and brunch menu?? 😅😅 There is a wide selection of drinks, from drip coffee and non-coffee drinks to juice and health drinks. I heard the pasta is good too, so next time I want to come in the morning and try the brunch pasta 🍝

Spacious seating and cool floor-to-ceiling windows
As you would expect from a large café in Anseong, Chat Baker has high ceilings and generously spaced seating, so it never felt cramped!! 👍🏻👍🏻 There were staff members on both floors, and whenever a seat opened up or someone spilled food, they cleaned it up right away!!
There are all kinds of layouts, from tables for two to group seating, so it seems great whether you come alone or with several people—you can sit wherever suits the occasion without feeling self-conscious!! It was blazing sunny and a bit hot when I went, but water was running down the big windows, which made things feel cool. It seemed to come down at set times.

Bread and cakes baked fresh every day
I had definitely come after a filling lunch, so why were my eyes drifting to the bread again?? 🤭🤭🤭 They replenished the bread as soon as it ran low, which made choosing it so much fun.
Ah!! And Chat Baker starts making dough and baking its bread from dawn every day. If you visit around the time the bread comes out, you can taste it fresh and warm. They say the dough uses naturally fermented sourdough with no artificial additives, and only 100% dairy butter. It feels like you can enjoy delicious bread in a healthier way.
Let’s take one more look at those gorgeous breads in the video~

There was also a wide variety of cake slices ready to go 🥹🥹 They say you can reserve the bread you want or a whole cake through their KakaoTalk open chat room, so keep that in mind if you need one.

A space where LPs and jazz belong together
Do you know LPs? Chat Baker was full of records everywhere, so there was plenty to enjoy just from looking around 🎶 The atmosphere was completely my taste!
You can probably tell from the name Chat Baker—it is a café that goes so well with LPs, right?? 🤭🤭 They say there will also be live jazz performances on September 26 and 27, so if you are interested in jazz, I recommend reserving ahead or asking at the counter before you visit.

How the salt bread and melon bingsu tasted
While I was looking around the café, the bread and bingsu we ordered came out. Chat Baker is famous in Anseong as a café for great salt bread, so I picked one too.
Yes… I should have cut it vertically, but I cut it horizontally instead 🤦🏻♀️
The bingsu came out while I was cutting the bread!! Can you see that appetizing pile of melon?? It looked like it had almost a whole melon in it!! Melon syrup was drizzled over the milk ice, so even eating the ice on its own was so good!! Taking a big mouthful of milk ice, cubed cheese, and melon all at once—what more is there to say~ It was seriously so delicious!!
Even though I was truly full, I just kept eating, you know?? We cleared everything—the bread, iced Americano, and melon bingsu—and had such a nice time.
