My boyfriend and I headed to Noryangjin loaded down with gear for a Han River sashimi picnic — the thing that's been taking over my algorithm lately. Sashimi takeout from Noryangjin seems to be trending, because even in broad daylight the place was packed with people (everyone clearly came from watching Reels). Ttangkkeut Maeul (땅끝마을) is right after you walk in through Gate Nam-1, diagonally to the left, on the 1st floor, units 42-43.

Ttangkkeut Maeul is the first thing you see walking in through Gate Nam-1, and it was full of girls also there for their own Han River sashimi picnics. The nice thing is you can reserve ahead, and turnover is fast so you don't have to wait long 👍🏻

What comes in the medium mixed sashimi platter, and how it's packed to go

You can reserve on Naver, choosing anywhere from the mixed platter up to a premium sashimi omakase. We got the medium mixed platter, which includes flounder, red seabream, mullet, and salmon!! It's a lot for two people, so if you're eating it as a drinking snack or don't eat much sashimi, the small size would be plenty. The medium size can easily feed four.

Probably because the place is so popular, there were quite a few people prepping fish, and even though a lot of people were waiting, our order came out really fast. They packed it carefully with an ice pack included. Vinegar-chili sauce and soy sauce were both included too, so we didn't need to bring anything ourselves — so convenient ♥️

Finding a tent spot at Yeouido Han River Park

We finally made it to Yeouido Han River Park. Since we planned to drink, we left the car behind and lugged a tent, chairs, and a table instead — it nearly killed me, it was so heavy ㅠ And of course taxis were impossible to catch 〰️〰️

Sashimi-cations seem to be all over Reels lately, because even though there was no fireworks festival, the park was packed and good spots weren't easy to find;; All the shaded spots were already taken, so we melted in the blazing sun ㅠ Everyone had gathered right here~~~

My boyfriend can barely eat sashimi, so we also picked up snacks like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) for him to share!

I wish the weather had been a little cooler ㅠㅠㅠ I wanted a fall sashimi picnic, but it was really hot — basically summer. With the sun blazing that hard, I was worried the sashimi would go bad.

How the mixed sashimi platter tasted by the Han River

The medium mixed platter had a huge amount across all the varieties :) It came with plenty of pickled radish, vinegar-chili sauce, soy sauce, and radish, so we didn't have to bring any of that ourselves — incredibly convenient and nice. So many varieties, all fresh, and eating it outdoors made it feel so special — it looked gorgeous too, perfect for a picnic. (Funny thing is, everyone walking by was clearly also mid Han River sashimi picnic haha)

It pairs amazingly with lemon gin, so try that combo!

Eating outside made everything taste better — not just the sashimi but the kimchi pancake and tteokbokki too.

Round two by the river: sangria, Jjapaghetti and nightfall

For round two we had sangria and jjapaguri (instant black bean noodles)! Cooking jjapaguri at home always tastes kind of bland, but somehow it's so much better at the Han River,,

We watched some late-night horror stories for a while

Then went back for more chicken skewers〰️ Pretty much all the food at the Han River was warm and worth eating. My boyfriend acted lukewarm every time he bought something like tteokbokki, but then I ate all of it myself^~^ The sauce was seriously delicious.

Maybe because the weather was so nice, the place was absolutely packed with people,,
