Hapjeong bar for Sidecar, Pisco Sour and free tofu chips: Rosetta
In short
Rosetta is a painting-themed cocktail bar in Hapjeong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, a five-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 3. Over a catch-up with friends, Rosetta served its signature Water Lily Pond, a classic Sidecar and a Pisco Sour, a non-alcoholic piña colada, sweet pumpkin cream gnocchi, butter-roasted baby potatoes and cuttlefish ragu linguine. For a day when you want to properly set the mood in Hapjeong, from classics to signatures
Rosetta, an old-world European-style bar in Hapjeong
Rosetta is a cocktail bar at 35 Eoulmadang-ro 5-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 1st floor, within a 5-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 3. It's open daily from 18:00 to 05:00 the next day, and you can use nearby parking lots.
I'm not much of a drinker to begin with, and I drink even less than I used to, but I've come to like a cocktail in a pretty bar more and more haha 😆 Rather than several bottles of soju-beer mixes over a meal, one or two well-made cocktails in a gorgeous place while chatting — that's more my style 💅✨
We were trying to figure out where to meet up with friends I hadn't seen in a while, and this place I'd bookmarked because the vibe was so exactly my style came to mind — 📍Rosetta Hapjeong. From outside, with the red awning and terrace tables, I thought, wait, is this really Hapjeong? The real thing had even more atmosphere than the photos, and stepping inside was a completely different mood again — I instantly understood why people looking for Hongdae cocktail bar dates keep coming back to places like this haha.
Rosetta's exterior and the outdoor terrace scene near Hapjeong Station

Rosetta Hapjeong is within 5 minutes on foot 🚇 from Hapjeong Station Exit 3. The first thing that catches your eye out front is the red awning ❤️ Cream-colored walls with a red accent, and once the lights come on, it feels like standing in front of an old European hotel bar. That old-world bar feeling like the ones you'd stumble on in a Rome alley ㅠㅠ it gave me that nostalgic feeling.

There are outdoor tables too, so it works great as an outdoor drinking spot or date bar in Hapjeong 〰️ The kind of place that would make you go wow even just passing by.

What is the inside of Rosetta like?

~ROSETTA~ The group seating you see right when you walk in. A space that felt so stylish, with paintings on the back wall styled with lighting.
The hall tables too, with stained-glass lighting, red wallpaper and all kinds of painting decor, make you wonder if you've somehow ended up on a street in France haha 😆
I even took a video of the mood at Rosetta Hapjeong. I really love that overwhelming feeling when a space has such a distinct atmosphere, and I never expected to find a place with such good vibes in Hapjeong. It seems like a great date course for Hongdae, Hapjeong, Sangsu, or, like us, a second-round spot for a friend meetup.

Check out the bathroom at Rosetta Hapjeong too. Spotless, and the amenities include disposable mouthwash, hair ties, dental floss, and more. The hand cream scent in there is really nice 👍

Rosetta Hapjeong's total of 8 signature painting-inspired cocktails. This cocktail series, inspired by famous paintings at this Hapjeong cocktail bar, makes you curious just reading the menu — how did they combine ingredients that seem like they'd never go together? 🤩 From adventurous combos like whisky, coffee, burdock, and miso, to combos that sound familiar and fragrant just hearing them, like port wine, lychee, rose, and hibiscus.
And instead of just sorting cocktails by base spirit, they're grouped by feeling or mood, like Relaxing & Delightful, Refreshing & Vibrant, Cozy & Chill, which made it easy to choose. If it's still hard to decide, the staff will recommend one if you tell them your preferred base, flavor, or scent 😙
Free tofu chips and the table setting

Rosetta's complimentary snack is tofu chips, which might seem like an odd choice, but they're seriously addictive.

Savory with a sweet finish ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ so good we finished them off in no time and asked for a refill
How does the Water Lily Pond cocktail taste?
This is the signature Water Lily Pond, the cocktail I ordered at this Hapjeong bar. I usually prefer crisp white-wine-style drinks, so I was curious about the harmony of refreshing ingredients like fig, cherry blossom, and herb oil on a dry sherry wine base, and ordered it. As soon as it was served, they dropped herb oil along the rim, and a fragrant herbal scent along with white grape aroma hit me right away. I immediately felt like I'd made the right choice 🤍

Where the herb oil touched, it was even more fragrant in the mouth, and the combination of fresh fruit and herbs felt like holding a well-made perfume in your mouth. The alcohol taste wasn't strong, it was just sweet enough, and above all so fragrant that I was completely won over ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + ⭐️ If you have a similar palate to mine and don't prefer a strong alcohol taste, or if you want to savor the aroma, I'd recommend this one :-)
Non-alcoholic piña colada and Pisco Sour
My friend ordered the non-alcoholic piña colada. At Rosetta, classic cocktails, or any flavor you want, can be made non-alcoholic. This was a textbook sweet pineapple piña colada.
The Pisco Sour was another recommended cocktail — a drink commonly enjoyed in South America, made with a pisco base, lime juice, and egg white foam on top, giving it a smooth texture and a nice sour lime flavor.
Classic Sidecar at 30% ABV

The Sidecar is a classic cocktail with a cognac base, lemon juice, and orange liqueur. At around 30% ABV, you can definitely feel it from the very first sip ‼️ The tartness of lemon makes it refreshing at first, but the heavy, distinctive aroma of cognac lingers afterward, giving it a clearly different character from the earlier cocktails. Even at that high proof it wasn't heavy — a sophisticated, urban cocktail with a good balance of citrus and cognac.

Sweet pumpkin cream gnocchi

This dish has sweet pumpkin purée and crème fraîche with potato gnocchi, sage, and chorizo oil. I expected a fully sweet cream sauce because of the pumpkin, but it was restrained and not too sweet, so we finished it off in no time. The fresh tang of the crème fraîche combined with the chorizo oil gave it that restrained, refined flavor I remember from eating the real ingredients in Europe!! Hard to believe such high-quality food is available at a Hapjeong bar ㅠㅠ It didn't have that chewy texture you'd feel there, but rather melted softly — and they recreated that exact feel right here at this Hapjeong bar 👏
Butter-roasted baby potatoes with jamón

Personally, this was the dish my hand kept reaching for most as a drinking snack. Nothing fancy, but I'm a root-vegetable lover 😙 Butter-roasted baby potatoes topped with jamón, pecorino cheese, and an apricot honey reduction. The potatoes are moist inside with a savory aroma from being roasted in butter — eaten alone they're like the baby potatoes from a highway rest stop, but the jamón adds saltiness and the apricot honey reduction brings sweetness at the end. Take a bite, then a sip of cocktail — mmmmm 〰️ 🤩
Cuttlefish ragu linguine

The linguine is thicker than a thin pasta, so there's more texture, and with broccoli and squid in there too, it has a satisfying chew, so it had real presence eaten together with the ragu sauce. There was cuttlefish scattered throughout, so between bites of the soft sauce you'd occasionally get that bouncy texture — a pasta that worked well that way! This too wasn't overly seasoned and let the natural ingredient flavors come through a lot. When it comes to pasta with drinks, I actually prefer this richer, more umami style.
Final verdict on Rosetta in Hapjeong
If you're looking for an atmospheric bar in Hapjeong and want something special to drink, I'd recommend this place. The space is beautiful and has great photo-worthy vibes — I saw plenty of people coming just to take pictures. There are truly countless bars in Hapjeong, but it's rare to find one with such a clear interior concept along with signature cocktails and a wide drink selection ᰔ
Especially with the burgundy colors, stained glass, paintings, and lighting, no matter where you take a photo, Rosetta's distinct mood comes through — very satisfying ˶ᵕᴗᵕ˶ 〰️ Starting from dinner, moving on to a signature cocktail, then a classic — it flows so well, making it perfect as a date course at this cocktail bar near Hapjeong Station.
For a day when you want to quietly chat over a drink, or when you want to set a bit more of a mood than usual, Rosetta near Hapjeong Station is the kind of place that will come to mind.
