Moi Hair Makeup is right next to the Olive Young at Hongdae Station. It's in the basement of the building, so you have to head down! There's a sign at the entrance that says MOI.

The waiting area at Moi Hair Makeup is really comfortable too, with tea, instant coffee, a coffee machine, and a water purifier ☕️
There are big lockers too so you can store your bags 👗👖 and a spacious fitting room where you can change clothes.
Since it's in a commercial building, the bathroom is clean, and as you can see from the business cards, they have a range of expert artists on staff 🤍
Does thick wave hair work on thin, perm-resistant hair?
At Moi Hair Makeup, a hair specialist and a makeup specialist handle their own parts separately. The lighting beside the mirror in winter was amazing for photos, honestly.
She asked what hair I wanted, and as soon as I explained it, she caught exactly what I meant and worked fast!
I asked for a big, thick wave.
Ta-da! My hair is thin and damaged, doesn't take perms or curling irons at all, and it still turned into these perfect waves in no time.
A face mask first: inside the makeup room at Moi Hair Makeup
On to the makeup room!! I never go out without makeup on, but today I had to show up bare-faced… Before makeup, they put on a sheet mask so my skin would absorb the products better!
It's like a cosmetics department store… such a huge range of products, all neatly arranged. I wish my own room looked like this.

It helps to decide on your makeup style, lash look, or overall color tone beforehand — a reference Instagram photo works great too!! Knowing what lash length you usually wear or want is helpful as well!
The lashes she applied one by one… so gorgeous and natural. She even used a heated cotton swab to do a kind of lash lift⭐️ I really didn't want to take these lashes off that day. The hold power was strong too ⚡️
The finished makeup, and the lip color you take home
Finally, onto the makeup, and oh my… her know-how was incredible. She nailed every point I mentioned. She made the whole experience so relaxing, and the chair was so comfortable I honestly almost fell asleep haha.
The thoughtfulness was next level — she put the exact lip color used that day into a separate little container and even gave me a cotton swab and a lip-only stick to take home!
Getting my makeup done by someone else and looking at this reborn face in the mirror made me genuinely happy 💕
The blush turned out so pretty too — it made me want to learn how to do my own makeup like this someday~
I usually have zero — actually negative — confidence in my looks, but that day my confidence was through the roof.
