Udon added to spicy seafood nabe: Yeongdeungpo izakaya Nani Byeolgwan
In short
Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is a skewer-and-nabe izakaya right in front of Times Square, a short walk from Yeongdeungpo Station in Seoul. A married couple arrived at 6:30pm after work and ordered chicken skewers, beef intestine skewers and spicy Nagasaki seafood nabe, then added udon noodles to the pot, finding a clean seafood broth with a sharp chilli kick behind it. Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch suits a night when you want grilled skewers and hot soup in one sitting.

A day when I was meeting my husband in Yeongdeungpo after work ✨ We went back and forth on what to eat, and since we both wanted warm soup and craved skewers, we naturally headed to Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch!

How long is the walk from Yeongdeungpo Station to Nani Byeolgwan?
We walked from Yeongdeungpo Station and got there faster than expected. It's right in front of Times Square, so it wasn't hard to find.
We arrived around 6:30pm and a couple of tables were slowly filling in! Office workers coming for a drink after work, groups of friends — the vibe felt natural.

Inside Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch: lighting, seats and room booking
The moment you step through the door at Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch, the soft lighting completely changes the mood!! The wood-tone interior has a touch of Japanese sensibility mixed in, so it almost felt like a little trip abroad, haha.
The tables were spaced comfortably, and you could even book a room through Naver! It was nice for chatting slowly over the meal. 👍
Personally I liked that the lighting wasn't too bright. The food looked even more appetizing and the photos turned out naturally nice too 🥰

What a couple ordered: chicken skewers, beef intestine skewers and Nagasaki seafood nabe
After a long look at the menu, we ordered chicken skewers, beef intestine skewers, and spicy Nagasaki seafood nabe, and once we started eating, the broth was so good we ended up adding udon noodles too. Lol.
They'd told us skewers usually take a while, but they came out faster than expected! (Even better‼️~~)
Chicken skewers: juicy rather than dry
From the first bite, the chicken skewers at Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch felt moist. Not the dry texture of chicken breast — more of a soft, tender chew.
The outside was grilled to a nice golden brown, and the faint smoky char made even such a simple chicken skewer surprisingly full of flavor.

A classic for a reason〰️ Even after the mayo sauce ran out, we kept scraping the bowl clean, haha, and kept reaching for more.

Beef intestine skewers: crisp outside, rich fat inside
The one I was personally a bit excited for was the beef intestine skewers, and I was glad we ordered it. One bite and the outside is slightly crispy while the savory fat spreads inside — you really, really have to order this ㅠㅠ. Highly recommended for anyone who loves beef intestine!!!

Not chewy at all, it just melts away in your mouth ㅠㅠ. You finish one skewer and immediately reach for the next. I get why it's such a popular drinking snack now.

Whew,, as someone who's a diehard lover of intestine and other chewy specialty cuts, I beg you, order it, order it, order it,,‼️ You'll know exactly what I mean by oil dripping through your mouth,, that rich, happy fatty taste 🫶🏻
Dip it in the spicy powder and it gets even better?! Absolutely insane 🔥🔥🔥

How spicy is the Nagasaki seafood nabe at Nani Byeolgwan?
Honestly, the dish I remember most from this visit was the Nagasaki seafood nabe (hot pot)!!
Lol, I took a photo of my happy husband, but for privacy reasons I'll blur it out.. ahem,,

It's a Japanese-style nabe, so why does it hit the Korean palate so perfectly?! It starts slowly simmering on the burner, and the smell of the broth alone gets your appetite going, legendary!!!!! Lol
You'd normally assume 'spicy' means aggressively hot, but this was truly, genuinely delicious!!! You get the cool, clean taste from the seafood first, then the sharp spiciness follows behind.

There was more seafood than I expected and plenty of vegetables too, so the broth got deeper the longer it simmered ~ so I kept spooning up broth ~ a spoonful of broth, then a skewer ~ then more broth ~ on repeat, lol.
Ramyun or udon? Which noodle add-in the nabe comes with
Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch doesn't have ramyun noodles, only udon. Partway through eating I thought 'noodles in here would be amazing' and tried to order ramyun noodles, but they told me there's no ramyun, only udon add-in.
So we added udon, and looking back, it was definitely the right call, lol. The chewy udon soaked up the broth so well it almost felt like a completely different dish. 👏 (Sadly I don't have a photo with the udon added in ㅠㅠ)
The spicy yet cool broth soaked right into the noodles, so it was hard to put the chopsticks down until the very end. If you're still hungry, adding udon is highly recommended!!!

Is Nani Byeolgwan a good place for dinner and drinks in Yeongdeungpo?
Throughout the meal, the staff checked in with the right timing and were friendly, which made it easier to just relax and stay. These days there are plenty of places with just good vibes and plenty of places with just good food, but this was one of the rare spots where both were satisfying, haha.
If you're looking for a place for an evening get-together in Yeongdeungpo, or just want somewhere to have a casual drink after work, Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is worth checking out.
If you especially love skewers, you have to try the chicken skewers and beef intestine skewers, and the Nagasaki seafood nabe with added udon was personally my favorite combination 🫶🏻🔥💥

Next time I want to try some of the other skewer options and a side dish or two. It had been a while since I had a dinner where both the food and the atmosphere were this satisfying, so we wrapped it up feeling really happy. 😆😁😄
