Korean BBQ in Hongdae, Seoul with mixed cold noodles: Chopilsal
In short
Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, less than 5 minutes on foot from Hongdae Station, run by a well-known Busan pork grill house. On a weekday evening, the writer and her younger brother ordered 3 servings of salted ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly) at 12,000 won per serving, filsal pork skin for 9,500 won, and chopilsal mixed cold noodles for 8,000 won, and the pork skin arrived fully grilled, which was the highlight. The ogyeopsal was thick and satisfying too, but the writer says to order the pork skin no matter what.

My brother and I hadn't met up in a while, so I figured — since it's been so long, let's actually eat proper meat! I went looking for good BBQ spots near Hongdae Station and found Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch. Apparently it's a famous BBQ place from Busan that now has a location in Hongdae. With salted pork belly, real dwitgogi, Choryang galbi, and filsal pork skin all on the menu, it was perfect for two meat-loving siblings like us.
Where is Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch, and how busy is a weekday evening?
Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch is located at 172 Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu — less than a 5-minute walk from Hongdae Station. Being so close to the station makes it easy to meet up and also a great spot for meat with a drink.
We went on a weekday evening, and even though it wasn't the weekend, the place was packed. There were already lots of people eating when we arrived, and more kept coming in the whole time we were there.

I guess being famous in Busan carries over — it seemed popular in Hongdae too. The place was bigger and cleaner than I expected, which makes it a good option whether you're going with friends or a bigger group. If accessibility and space matter to you when looking for a BBQ restaurant near Hongdae Station, this could be a solid choice.
What we ordered at Chopilsal Pork Grill, and what it cost
Looking at the menu, besides their signature salted pork belly there was quite a variety — real dwitgogi, Choryang galbi, filsal pork skin, and more. There were also meal items that go well with meat, like zucchini doenjang stew or radish salad rice bowl.

Here's what we ordered:
- Salted pork belly x3 servings (₩12,000 per serving)
- Filsal pork skin ₩9,500
- Chopilsal mixed cold noodles ₩8,000
- Chamisul soju ₩5,500
- Terra beer ₩6,000
That's what we went with. Since it had been a while since I'd seen my brother, we couldn't just eat meat and call it a day — we ordered drinks properly too haha.
The side dishes that come with the Hongdae pork BBQ
Once you order meat, they lay out a whole spread of side dishes. Green onion strips, radish salad, white kimchi, perilla leaf wraps with radish — lots of good options to pair with the meat.

I love it when a BBQ place gives you a variety of side dishes like this. A bite of meat with green onion strips, then with white kimchi, then wrapped in perilla leaf and radish — it kept things interesting all the way through.
Three servings of salted ogyeopsal: how thick is the pork belly?
And then, finally, the salted pork belly for 3 arrived! As soon as I saw the color of the meat, I thought — wow, this looks good... haha.

The pork belly came sliced thick, with a good balance of lean meat and fat layers — it looked appetizing even before cooking. They put it straight on the grill and cooked it to a nice golden brown.

Because of the thickness, we cooked the outside until it was almost crispy while keeping the juices inside — it was delicious. The chewy fat and soft lean meat that's characteristic of pork belly made for a great texture too.

For the first bite, I of course dipped it lightly in salt. The salty flavor brings out the savory taste of the meat, and personally I love eating the first bite this way. After that, I dipped it in fermented anchovy sauce, piled on green onion strips, and had it with white kimchi!

The fermented anchovy sauce has a rich, salty flavor that goes really well with the fatty pork belly. Pairing it with white kimchi or radish salad also cuts through the richness in your mouth, so you just keep eating more meat haha.

When looking for a good BBQ restaurant near Hongdae Station, what matters most in the end is the meat — and the salted pork belly here was more satisfying than I expected.
Drinks: one bottle of Chamisul soju and one Terra beer
You can't have meat like this without ordering soju, right? My brother immediately ordered Chamisul!

I had important plans the next day, so I reluctantly skipped the soju and had a bottle of Terra beer instead, taking it easy. Still, having a cold beer with freshly grilled pork was great.

Meeting up with my brother after a while, grilling meat and having a drink together made for great conversation too.
Filsal pork skin, 9,500 won, served already grilled
And the thing I remember most from that day — the filsal pork skin! Here, the pork skin comes out completely pre-grilled. A staff member cuts it into bite-sized pieces for you, so all we had to do was eat. But the moment I took a bite — wow... this pork skin is seriously delicious haha.

It was chewy without being tough, and got more savory the more you chewed — I genuinely enjoyed it that day.

Pork skin can sometimes be tough or have a particular smell if it's not done well, but here there was none of that, and I kept reaching for more. I went there for the pork belly and ended up hooked on the pork skin instead...

If you visit Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch, definitely order the filsal pork skin alongside your meat. I'll definitely order it again next time I go.
Finishing with chopilsal mixed cold noodles, 8,000 won
After working through the pork belly and pork skin, things started to feel a bit rich in the mouth. That's when we ordered the Chopilsal mixed cold noodles for ₩8,000! You really can't resist cold noodles after BBQ.

Eating the cold, tangy-spicy noodles felt like it cleared away all the richness that had built up from the meat.

The noodles are delicious on their own, but putting leftover pork belly on top completely changes the flavor! A bite of meat plus a bite of noodles — we finished everything off to the last bite.

Is Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch worth it? Final verdict
Visiting Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch with my brother after a while! With customers streaming in nonstop even on a weekday evening, I first wondered if it could really be that good — but after eating it myself, I was satisfied.
The salted pork belly was thick with a good ratio of fat to lean meat, great dipped in salt or fermented anchovy sauce, but my personal favorite was the filsal pork skin! If you like pork skin, you really should order it alongside your meat. Finishing with the Chopilsal mixed cold noodles cut through the richness for a clean finish!
Being within a 5-minute walk of Hongdae Station makes it easy to get to, and the space is spacious and clean, so it could be a good pick for anyone looking for a BBQ restaurant near Hongdae Station, a spot for meat and drinks with friends, or just craving pork in Hongdae. Next time I go, I'll order the same salted pork belly and filsal pork skin again, plus try the Choryang galbi I missed this time!
A great spot for pork belly and a drink near Hongdae Station — the salted pork belly is good, but the filsal pork skin is a must-add: Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch
