Uijeongbu date-night Korean BBQ: half pig, ₩6,000 naengmyeon, Hanmaeum

In short

Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch is a butcher-shop-style Korean BBQ place on the 3rd floor of a shopping complex in the Gosan district of Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. A couple in their 40s came for a dinner date and ordered the 500g half pig portion with ₩6,000 naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), and found the dedicated doenjang jjigae burner beside the grill, the partitioned tables and the floor-to-ceiling windows the standout details. Portions were so generous that the doenjang rice course went untouched, but the wrap vegetables and the value made it a satisfying night out.

We're Jini and Jjoppa, a happy couple in our 40s! Today we went on a date nearby and visited Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch!

Where is Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant in Uijeongbu Gosan, and where do you park?

Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch is on the 3rd floor of a shopping complex (units 301, 302, 303) at 20 Seseok-ro, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do. The Uijeongbu Gosan district is a bit over 20 minutes by car from Deokgye. We'd heard it was a great-value Korean BBQ spot, so we went to check it out.

We parked in the building's underground lot. Space was limited but we still managed to park without much trouble. We parked on B3 and headed up to the 3rd floor where the restaurant is. If you park in the building, registering your car at checkout is required!

Business hours are daily 16:00–23:00; check Naver for regular closed days.

Partitioned tables and floor-to-ceiling windows: what Hanmaeum Butcher feels like inside

The place has plenty of tables, each divided by partitions, so we could eat quite privately. Blinds were down when we first arrived, but staff raised them later.

Thanks to the wide windows and high ceilings, there wasn't much smoke or smell, making it more comfortable than the usual cramped Korean BBQ joint. High chairs were kindly provided too.

What a couple orders at Hanmaeum Butcher: the half pig portion and naengmyeon

Like many butcher-shop-style restaurants these days, Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch offers both beef and pork à la carte, plus great-value 'full plate' and 'half plate' sets, making it easy to choose based on headcount or preference.

We ordered the half pig portion, then added naengmyeon (cold noodles) partway through the meal.

A burner just for doenjang jjigae, plus the side dishes

One of the best things about this place is the separate gas burner set up right beside the main grill, just for doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). The stone pot stays simmering throughout the meal without cooling down, cutting through the greasiness of the meat really well.

The spicy-tangy shredded scallion salad was another great palate cleanser, and the cucumber side dish was surprisingly good — I ate all three cucumbers that came out, haha. They also serve a mini mukbap (acorn jelly in icy cold broth) with a bit of slush ice, which is also a must-try.

How does the 500g half pig portion taste?

The half pig portion we ordered was 500g, and it looked like a hefty amount. It came neatly arranged with thick-cut samgyeopsal (pork belly), mokssal (pork neck), and hangjeongsal (pork jowl) with visible marbling.

The grill had strong heat, so the outside got crispy while the juices stayed locked inside — the texture was tender and the flavor was clean, with no gamy taste at all. Dipping it lightly in just salt first let us taste the meat's natural flavor, and then wrapping it in ssammu (pickled radish wrap) cut through the richness nicely. The accompanying myeolchijeot (fermented anchovy sauce) was a bit salty for my taste, but paired with the leafy greens, every last bite stayed delicious.

After eating a good amount of meat, I wanted to make 'doenjang julbap' — dumping a whole bowl of rice into the simmering doenjang jjigae — but the portions here are so generous that I had to give up on that.

Wrap vegetables and the 3rd-floor window view

Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch is truly a ssam (wrap) lover's paradise. Just be careful — the cheongyang peppers are seriously spicy, haha.

Being on the 3rd floor gives you a really nice view, doesn't it? Korean BBQ restaurants can feel a bit stuffy, but this one is wide open.

Finishing the date with ₩6,000 naengmyeon

The naengmyeon is only ₩6,000 but the portion is huge. Eating the mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) alongside a wrap of pork lets the pork belly fat melt into it for a clean, satisfying finish. The cold, tangy-spicy broth was clean-tasting and made for a great palate cleanser.

Don't miss the review event — a free drink is such a nice perk!
