Siraegi braised pollock, Gasan-dong Korean restaurant: Gim Myeongtae
In short
Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs Gasan Branch is a pollock specialty restaurant in Gasan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, known as a delivery favorite among Gasan Digital Complex office workers. The meal was siraegi myeongtaejorim (braised pollock with dried radish greens) and hot-pot spicy braised short ribs, plus the 2,000 won sotbap (rice cooked in a pot) served free as a lunch special before 3pm, finished with nurungji sungnyung (scorched rice tea). The pollock bones slid right out, even the leaner cuts of the ribs stayed moist, and the rice pot tied it all together.

Located across from the Gasan-dong community center, Gim Myeongtae Gasan Branch is just a 3-minute walk from Gasan Hyundai Outlet — perfect for stopping by after shopping!

The interior is nice and clean too! The restaurant is quite spacious with plenty of seating, so it looks like it can handle groups as well.
Tidy side dishes and the 2,000 won rice pot at Gim Myeongtae

As soon as you sit down, these neatly arranged side dishes are set out!

A sweet salad that pairs perfectly with the spicy dishes, pickles, stir-fried fish cake, and a refreshing bean sprout soup — a solid lineup.

And here, if you visit before 3pm, you get a ₩2,000 rice pot as part of the lunch special! If you love rice pots, you have to aim for lunchtime here 😆
Siraegi braised pollock: bones slide right out, deep savory flavor

Finally, today's first star: the sikeumchi (dried radish greens) pollock stew! The sauce on the pollock is genuinely amazing. As a card-carrying member of the sikeumchi fan club, I couldn't not order it.

The spicy-sweet sauce soaks all the way through, and the bones come off so easily that eating it was super comfortable.

Cutting off a thick piece of pollock flesh and wrapping it with the well-braised sikeumchi greens — it was rice-thief material, no question.
Hot-pot spicy braised short ribs: generous meat, fall-apart tender
Next up is the spicy braised short ribs, bubbling away straight out of the hot pot!

Order this spicy braised ribs dish and they give you a freshly cooked rice pot along with it — the rice grains were so chewy, rice pots really are just delicious ㅠㅠ

The meat in the spicy braised ribs had some tender cuts as well as the drier cut often called 'pukpuk-sal' (the lean, chewier part).

Wow... the braising sauce was so well soaked in that even the dry cut felt moist — the meat pulled apart cleanly along the grain!

Take a piece of the spicy braised ribs and a piece of the braised pollock, lay them on top of the glossy rice pot, and it's a party in your mouth! Seriously so good 👍

The cheese rice cake mixed in is also delicious~♪(^∇^*)
Finishing with sungnyung, the classic Korean scorched rice tea
After scraping up all the rice, they pour hot water over the crispy scorched rice at the bottom of the pot to make nurungji sungnyung! The nutty, warm tea washes everything down and wraps up the meal so cleanly hahaha.

From the easy-to-debone, delicious braised pollock to the generously portioned spicy braised ribs that even made the dry cut moist — from the main dishes to the rice pot, everything was perfect at this Gasan-dong restaurant, Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs Gasan Branch. It keeps a delivery rating of 4.9–5.0, so quality is guaranteed — I highly recommend stopping by with a rice pot when you're craving something spicy to blow off steam after work!
