Daejeon katsu restaurant comparing three cutlets: Gatjidong Noeun
In short
Gatjidong Noeun Branch is a Japanese-style pork cutlet restaurant near Noeun Station in Jijok-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, serving katsu, salmon dishes and rice bowls. On a repeat visit the writer ordered the Gatjidong mixed cutlet platter (₩15,800) and the old-style breaded cutlet (₩10,900), putting chicken katsu, old-style breaded cutlet and cheese katsu side by side on one plate. When the menu is hard to narrow down, the Gatjidong mixed platter is the easiest way to taste all three in one sitting.

The interior is neat and tidy. There are lots of 4-person tables, so it looked like a good spot for a family meal too — and honestly, every time I've been here, there have been lots of families.

And there's a really lovely service — furikake rice, vitamins, and tableware for kids! Perfect for a family meal out with little ones.
And it looks like they've added Cass Ice Chilling Beer for the grown-ups too. Apparently it's ₩990 for 300cc — seems to be a promotion right now?! Go now, hurry ,,,
What we ordered at Gatjidong: mixed cutlet platter and old-style breaded cutlet
- Gatjidong Mixed Cutlet Platter (₩15,800)
- Old-Style Breaded Cutlet (₩10,900)
Gatjidong mixed cutlet platter, ₩15,800: chicken katsu, breaded cutlet and cheese katsu on one plate
The Gatjidong mixed cutlet platter is ₩15,800 and comes with chicken katsu, old-style breaded pork cutlet, and cheese katsu together. I liked being able to compare all three types on a single plate.

📍 Gatjidong mixed cutlet platter — the first thing that caught my eye as soon as it arrived was how deliciously fried everything looked. The platter had chicken katsu, old-style breaded cutlet, and cheese katsu together, so I liked being able to compare all three types on one plate.

The chicken katsu had a light, clean flavor, quite different from a regular pork cutlet. Thanks to the tender texture unique to chicken, it was easy to eat without feeling heavy, and it went well with the crispy batter.

For the cheese katsu, the cheese inside was the highlight when I cut into it. Inside the crispy cutlet, the soft, savory cheese added something that definitely gave it a different charm from the other two — I was glad I'd ordered the mixed platter.
The mixed cutlet platter was especially good because I could switch between different types rather than eating just one kind the whole time. The chicken katsu was light, the old-style breaded cutlet had that familiar, rich flavor, and the cheese katsu was savory and soft — each had its own clear character.

Old-style breaded cutlet, ₩10,900: the retro brown sauce
Gatjidong's old-style breaded cutlet is ₩10,900 — a thinly fried cutlet with a sauce that gives off that classic old-school vibe. The sauce wasn't heavy, so it went well with rice too.
📍 Old-style breaded cutlet

The old-style breaded cutlet was a thin fried cutlet with sauce that blended together in that classic old-school way — familiar yet delicious. The sauce wasn't too heavy, so the harmony with the cutlet was great, and it was a perfect match with rice too.

The salad served in between bites was solid too,,,
And of course, as always, I cleaned my plate of kimchi too.

Which menu should you pick at Gatjidong Noeun Branch?
Overall, Gatjidong is a fun spot for trying different kinds of pork cutlets, so it's worth a visit if you like cutlets. Especially if you're having trouble deciding what to order, the mixed platter lets you try chicken katsu, old-style breaded cutlet, and cheese katsu all at once, which should be pretty satisfying.
Personally, the mixed platter was the most fun since I got to taste a little of each, and among the three, the old-style breaded cutlet — familiar yet somehow I kept reaching for it — was my favorite. Eating the crispy cutlet with the sauce went really well with rice, and it made for a hearty, satisfying meal.
