Weekend means it's family dinner time at our house, without fail. Haha. This weekend I was craving proper grilled gopchang (grilled beef intestines), so we headed out to Dangsan Station~
Chodaechang Dangsan Station / Daily 17:00–23:00

What kind of restaurant is Chodaechang Dangsan Station?
Today's spot was Chodaechang Dangsan. It's listed in the Blue Ribbon Survey 2024, so I went in with a bit of anticipation. It's close to Dangsan Station so it's easy to get to, and what I really liked was that staff grill the meat for you, so you can just relax and eat.

Parking at Chodaechang near Dangsan Station
If you're driving, on-site parking is available, and if the lot is full, you can use the public parking lot under the Dangsan Station overpass. Parking is always a bit of a stress on days we take the car, so it was nice to have options. 👍

The overall vibe was clean and pleasant, so it didn't feel like too much for a family dinner or a weekend evening meal.

What comes in Assorted Grill A: daechang, teuk-yang, makchang, beef heart
What we ordered at Chodaechang Dangsan Station was Assorted Grill Set A. It's a combination where you can try daechang (large intestine), teuk-yang (premium beef tripe), makchang (small intestine), and beef heart all at once — perfect when you want to sample a variety of cuts.

Best of all, staff grilled everything to the perfect eating point from the start, so there was no scrambling at the table trying to grill it ourselves. Food really does taste better when someone else grills it for you! Haha.
How each cut tastes and chews
First up, the beef heart was chewy yet clean-tasting — its charm. It wasn't tough, had just the right bounce, and got more savory the more you chewed.

Teuk-yang had a fun texture to me personally. It was springy with a definite chew to it, offering a different charm from daechang.

And you can't talk about grilled gopchang without daechang! It's a fattier cut, but it chewed soft and had a deep, savory flavor. It practically melted in the mouth — daechang really is daechang.

Makchang had its own signature chewy, springy texture, fun to slowly work through.
Pickled gungchae and seasoned sauce: changing up the flavor
Grilled gopchang is delicious just dipped in salt or sauce, but the sides really change the mood, right? At Chodaechang we tried it with pickled gungchae (stem lettuce) and seasoned sauce.

Placing a piece of crunchy pickled gungchae on top of the savory, fatty cuts made everything taste fresher, and adding the seasoned sauce brought a sweet-spicy kick that made the same meat feel new again. The gungchae paired especially well with fatty cuts like daechang.
Finishing with spicy yang fried rice
Ending with just meat would feel like something's missing. The real finish is fried rice! This time we finished with yang (tripe) fried rice.

Adding spicy seasoning to the leftover flavors from the meat really revived our appetite. There's always room for fried rice even when you're full — turns out that saying isn't wrong. Haha.
Grilled offal near Dangsan Station, easy and comfortable
Chodaechang Dangsan was a comfortable meal thanks to the assorted grill set letting us try multiple cuts at once, plus the staff grilling everything for us. Chewy beef heart, springy teuk-yang, soft and savory daechang, and bouncy makchang — each cut had its own texture and charm, which made it fun to pick and choose.

On top of that, we switched things up with pickled gungchae and seasoned sauce, and finished cleanly with spicy yang fried rice! A satisfying weekend dinner at Chodaechang Dangsan, a well-known meat restaurant near Dangsan Station. Living up to its Blue Ribbon Survey 2024 listing, it delivered on the taste and texture I hoped for, along with a comfortable dining atmosphere all around.
