Blending tea with parents at Robain Coffee, a Jeju Jocheon café

When traveling around Jeju, some cafés stick in memory simply because they're not too crowded and let you sit quietly looking at the sea. On this trip, that place was a café in Jocheon-eup, Jeju: Robain Coffee.

Also known as the Sincho-ri café, it's quiet and calm with an ocean view on top, making it a great spot for a cup of tea and a rest. I visited with my parents, and they loved the atmosphere too, which made it even more satisfying.

Robain Coffee sits in Sincho-ri, Jocheon-eup, Jeju. Based on the store's current information, it's a café with several spaces — an ocean view of Sinchon Port, stone walls, a lawn yard, first and second floors, a rooftop, and an annex.

It was quite a large café for Jocheon-eup. You might expect a big café to feel crowded and noisy, but Robain Coffee actually felt relaxed, probably because the space is so spread out. It seemed like a great spot for a family visit, or for couples stopping by briefly during a Jeju trip.

The weather was really good that day, so just looking around the café grounds put me in a good mood. In particular, the dol hareubang (stone grandfather statues) scattered around caught my eye — they're not all identical, each one has a slightly different expression, posture, and gesture, which made them fun to spot one by one.

It really felt like being in Jeju, and the grounds were great for photos. Most of all, it was impressive that Jocheon-eup had such a nice view. The sea scenery through the windows was pretty, and stepping outside led right into the view toward Sinchon Port — a space that made me want to linger rather than just drink and leave.

1st floor, 2nd floor, rooftop, annex — a large, spacious café

I liked that Robain Coffee's space was divided across the first floor, second floor, rooftop, and annex. The first floor had comfortable seating and a warm overall interior, so it didn't feel like a burden to stay a long time. There were also private spaces, which seemed great for chatting comfortably with family.

So I thought this café would suit a wide range of people — from someone who wants to drink coffee alone quietly to families traveling together.

Not just coffee — a wide range of teas too

One thing I really liked about Robain Coffee was the variety of teas.

Coffee lovers will of course be satisfied, but it's also a great spot for someone like me who enjoys resting over a warm cup of tea while traveling. I especially liked that there were many blending teas to choose from depending on your taste.

What I ordered that day was Cool Summer, Warm Winter, an iced Americano, and doraji tea (bellflower root tea).

I really loved that there were private spaces too.

The one spot at Robain Coffee I'd really recommend going up to is the rooftop. From there you get an ocean view that takes in all of Sinchon Port at once. The weather was so good that day that the sea and sky stretched out beautifully, and just gazing at it put me in a good mood. I imagine it would look even prettier around sunset.

There are good spots for photos too, so if you're looking for an ocean-view café in Jocheon-eup, Jeju, I'd recommend checking out the rooftop as well.

A café that was great to visit with family

This time I visited with my parents, and I personally thought it was a great café to stop at during a family trip. The café is spacious so it doesn't feel stuffy, and there are plenty of spaces to sit and chat comfortably.

Cool Summer (시원하다 여름)

Cool Summer had a fun name from the start. It's a blending tea combining green tea, lotus leaf, and peppermint, and tasting it, the cool, refreshing feel of the peppermint really came through. Maybe because the weather was so nice, drinking it while looking at the Jeju sea suited it even more.

The way the tea is served was fun too. It's steeped according to an hourglass, and waiting for it to brew while chatting slowly was nice in itself. For the iced version, they provide a separate ice cup, so you can enjoy the tea however you like.

Most of all, sitting in a quiet space slowly sipping tea seemed to gradually untangle my cluttered thoughts. It was exactly the kind of break I needed during the trip.

If you're looking for a café in Jocheon-eup, Jeju that isn't too noisy, one in Sincho-ri where you can sip tea while gazing at the sea, or a large café where you can stay comfortably with family — this café in Jocheon-eup, Jeju is Robain Coffee. If you're after a Jeju trip where you can quietly drink tea and rest for a while, I'd want to come back here.

Hand-drip coffee from the owner

The owner treated us to a complimentary hand-drip coffee. For someone who really loves coffee like me, it was a small but unexpected, happy gift. I already love drinking good coffee while traveling around Jeju, but being able to feel that warm gesture on top made it even more memorable.

What my parents liked most was the quiet, comfortable atmosphere. Sipping warm tea, chatting about the trip, and taking in the scenery around us, time passed by really leisurely. Families traveling with kids should also find it easy to use, since the space is so spacious.

Warm Winter (따뜻하다 겨울)

Warm Winter, as the name suggests, seemed like it would suit winter drinking even more. It's black tea with yuzu and tteulbae (a type of pear), and drinking it warm, the fragrant, subtle flavor was lovely.

Visiting with my parents, my dad ended up dozing off a little at some point while listening to the soft music playing. I guess that says just how comfortable the atmosphere was.

Sitting like this in a quiet café for a bit, sipping warm tea and resting, seems to raise your overall satisfaction with the trip more than you'd expect.

Iced Americano and doraji tea

As someone who loves coffee, of course I couldn't skip the iced Americano. Drinking coffee while looking out at the ocean view made it feel more leisurely than usual.

And the doraji tea (bellflower root tea) I also ordered was a great choice for visiting with parents. It felt like an advantage of Robain Coffee that a coffee lover and a tea lover could visit together and each pick something that suits their taste.

Who would this suit?

Rather than just a place to drink coffee, this is somewhere you can slowly steep and sip tea, look out at the sea through the windows, and even enjoy the Sinchon Port scenery from the rooftop. Most of all, it seems to suit people who want to spend time quietly and leisurely rather than in a crowded atmosphere. It's a good fit for coffee lovers, and also for visiting with tea-loving parents.
