On this trip to Jeju, my husband really wanted grilled fish, so I searched for a good spot near Jeju Airport and we ended up at Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch. It was the most memorable grilled fish meal of our whole Jeju trip, so it's somewhere I'd love to bring my parents next time 💓
Five minutes by car from Jeju Airport: Naneun Jigeum Yongdam Airport Branch

It's only about a 5-minute drive from the airport, so you can grab a hearty meal here on your first or last day before flying out! As the name suggests, this place serves all kinds of grilled fish, so if you're a fish lover, picking a menu item is half the fun. Even before stepping inside, the smell of grilled fish drifting out made me way hungrier, haha.

Side dishes like homemade cooking, extras from the self-serve bar
Such a colorful spread of side dishes ✨ It really seemed like everything was made in-house! It totally tasted like homemade food. We got stir-fried fish cake, sautéed mushrooms, kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), spicy radish salad, and seasoned bean sprouts, among others, haha.

You can grab extra side dishes from the self-serve bar! Being able to help yourself to more like this is so convenient, hoho. Personally, the fish cake was really tasty!

Visited after weekday lunch hour, ordered the Big Son Set
I visited after the weekday lunch rush! I hadn't made a reservation, but since it was a weekday, there was no wait and seats were open. We ordered the Big Son Set (큰아들정식), which comes with grilled fish, a stew, and side dishes together. Aren't the menu names just so charming, haha.
The menu

There's even a solo-diner set, so anyone traveling to Jeju alone should be able to enjoy a meal here too. We paid ₩2,000 extra to swap one fish for tilefish! Since we were in Jeju, we wanted to pair the fish we normally eat with tilefish, which isn't easy to find elsewhere. The food came out quickly, and the table was set with a really generous spread 👍🏻

The atmosphere and seating
Inside, the restaurant has round tables spaced generously apart, making for a comfortable dining atmosphere 👍🏻 We visited after the lunch rush so there were no other customers, but watch out for waits during actual mealtimes!!

How the grilled mackerel and cutlassfish tasted
The fish came out perfectly golden-brown and easy to eat, and picking off the flesh while it was still warm to eat with rice made me realize — this is what they mean by a 'rice thief'! Grilled fish really has to be eaten fresh out of the grill for the best flavor, haha. The fish were grilled just right, so they tasted clean yet savory, and went perfectly with rice 👍🏻 I'd never seen mackerel this big before, and it was seriously delicious 👍🏻

Since it's near Jeju Airport, I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're looking for a place to eat during your trip! My husband, who loves grilled fish, was picking apart every last bit of flesh and looked so happy doing it, haha. His favorite grilled fish was the cutlassfish!

Paired with cheonggukjang
We ate the grilled fish together with cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and its savory, earthy flavor went really well with the fish! I mixed it into my rice and ate it right down to the last bite.

If you visit with family, you can share several different kinds of fish, so if I come back to Jeju, I'd love to bring my parents next time, haha. If you're craving grilled fish during your Jeju trip, try Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch, a top grilled fish spot in Jeju 💓 Even people who aren't big fish fans will probably like this!!
