My husband and I came out to play in Konkuk today. We had a date in Seongsu, rode bikes to Seoul Forest, then headed to Konkuk. Perfect timing for a good beer..👍 We'd been out sightseeing and eating all day so everything tasted amazing.
Pizza E Michida — I liked the name and the vibe drew us right in. And my husband is a well-known pizza fanatic.. we came here as our second stop.
Outdoor patio and indoor seating at Pizza E Michida Konkuk
The interior felt cozy, like being in Europe. They even had my favorite Van Gogh movie playing, which made the mood even better..🤍 The atmosphere was really nice and snug.
A window seat overlooking the patio — this looks perfect for beer at a Konkuk Station bar. There's also outdoor seating, plus, unusually, 3-person seats and high-chair tables. We ended up somewhere that felt half-patio, half-indoor.
There's also patio seating on the side of the restaurant. This side feels a bit more comfortable and quiet — the hot spot seems to be inside and out front. Still, this looks great for drinking beer at a Konkuk Station bar.
Starting with draft beer in an iced glass
As soon as we sat down we ordered a cold draft beer to start — wow, even the glass was frosted, super refreshing beer, really delicious. Fresh draft beer.
While you're enjoying a cold beer, the pizza comes out right away. It came out faster than expected — I thought it might take a while since the place was packed with customers.
What does the fig cream dipping sauce taste like?
You can also choose your own dipping sauce, and the fig cream sauce is thick, nutty and delicious. All the sauces are handmade, so they all seem like they'd be good. Dipping the crust edge in it is a perfect match.
Half-and-half pizza: gorgonzola and combination
We ordered a gorgonzola and combination half-and-half at Pizza E Michida. The crust isn't thick, so it doesn't feel heavy at all. A Konkuk Station favorite pizza — amazing!
There's a burner underneath the pizza so you can keep eating it warm to the very last bite, which was really nice. Pizza gets cold as usual, but especially when you're having a few drinks with it, it stiffens up fast, right? As time passed, this feature was really great. I'd totally recommend other pizza places do this too, haha.
Generously topped half-and-half. The gorgonzola loaded with basil also had almonds sprinkled on top and was finished with parsley. Classic gorgonzola with basil sauce was great.
The gorgonzola paired especially well with the thin crust. Sweet and generously piled cheese made it rich and nutty — there's nothing better as a beer snack, haha.
Drizzling honey on top maximized the sweetness even more. It sounds weird for pizza to be sweet, but somehow gorgonzola pulls it off. Hehe.
Topped with black olives, mushrooms, ham and salami pepperoni, and assorted vegetables, the combination is exactly the classic combination we all know. It's low in grease so it's not a heavy pizza.
Ale beer, highballs and soju on the drinks list
They sell various types of ale beer and highballs, so it was fun to order a bunch of different things. I didn't get a photo, but they also sell soju. You know soju goes great with pizza, right? We ordered soju too, and it paired well with the pizza. We wrapped up today's meal again by stuffing ourselves with pizza at this Konkuk Station favorite.
