Seoul Korean BBQ with a 30-minute wait and white kimchi: Yukjjip

Fall weather has been so good lately, haha, TT. Perfect for walking from Bulgwangcheon stream all the way to the Han River, and I've been really into working out and walking lately >< This day too, after exercising and walking, I suddenly wanted to sink my teeth into some meat for a bit of recovery... you know how it is,, lol

So I'd had my eye on this place for a while and finally visited: Yukjjip Eungam main branch. There's also a Gajaeul branch and a Nokbeon branch, but the main branch is right in front of Eungam Station by Bulgwangcheon stream, and that's where I went this time.

The hearty pork itself was great, but honestly what I loved most was that the staff grilled the meat for me directly, which made things so easy as the person eating... And the staff were so kind too, so I had a genuinely pleasant meal. Walking along Bulgwangcheon in the fall and then eating meat on top of that — total recovery combo!!

Where Yukjjip Eungam is and when it opens

Yukjjip Eungam main branch is at 558 Bulgwangcheon-gil, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (1st & 2nd floor), about a 1-minute walk from Eungam Station Exit 4. Hours are Mon–Sat 12:00–24:00 (last order 23:30), Sundays 12:00–23:00 (last order 22:30). Parking is available, restrooms are separated by gender, and it accommodates groups and has kids' chairs.

One minute from Bulgwangcheon stream, and the wait outside

Literally a 1-minute walk from Bulgwangcheon stream near Eungam Station!! Great to pop in mid-walk. Or, great to walk it off afterward too. It just catches your eye and is easy to spot! Jirisan-aged pork belly, pork neck,,,,

After 6pm you should basically expect a wait. I went at a slightly odd time and there was still more of a wait than I expected TT Doesn't matter if it's a weekday or weekend, once it passes 5–6pm there's basically always a wait, wow. I waited about 30 minutes myself before getting in. Popular places really are different, haha.

Near the entrance there was a sign for priority entry for pregnant guests, which felt like a nice warm touch haha. Kids' chairs were also ready, so it's a comfortable spot for family visits!!

While waiting, since mosquitoes are still out in force, they had a mosquito coil going, and the little pig-shaped coil holder in front was so cute lol. The mosquito coil smoke coming out of it,, so cute I took a pic.

Folding doors and 6-seaters downstairs, grill tables upstairs

Yukjjip is split into 1st and 2nd floors. The 1st floor front is opened up like folding doors, so even though it's a BBQ place it didn't feel stuffy. There's less worry about smoke too, and on a nice day it feels open and airy.

Roomy tables that mostly seat six

The tables are mostly set up for 6 people. Even when only 2 people visit, they sometimes still get seated at a 6-person table haha. Maybe that's why the whole place feels spacious. Great for families or larger groups!!

I sat upstairs on the 2nd floor! There's a grill at the far end where staff cook the meat.

The Yukjjip menu and how to order

Each table has a kiosk so ordering is easy >< If there's a wait, table time is capped at 100 minutes.

Jirisan-aged pork, Yukjjip!!!! Built around Jirisan-aged pork, you can enjoy various cuts like pork belly, pork neck, gabrisal, and skirt meat. In particular, the Yukjjip Assorted platter — which comes with the signature pork neck, whole pork belly, and gabrisal together — is the signature menu item!!!!!

Since I wanted to try several cuts at once, I ordered the Yukjjip Assorted platter.

Soju for 1,000 won and beer for 2,000 won

Attention, drinkers!!!!!!!! Yahi yahi ya~~ Extended through October, the discount event has soju at ₩1,000 and bottled beer at ₩2,000!!!!!! At these prices it feels seriously good value lol — even before the discount, soju was ₩3,000. For real??;;

Amazing, double amazing all around!! I couldn't drink that day so I sadly skipped the alcohol, but the next table was ordering multiple bottles of soju and beer. If you're the type to enjoy a drink with your meat, this promo is one to actually take advantage of!!!

Eating at Yukjjip: the grill, the side dishes, the platter

A clean grill from the start

Ta-da~ Before the meat came out, I checked the grill pan first, and it looked quite clean and tidy. Considering the meat's going to be cooked right on that surface, this kind of detail actually matters, haha.

Generous side dishes before the meat

They laid out the side dishes one by one — bean sprout namul, white kimchi, wild garlic leaves, scallion kimchi, and more, all sorts of variety.

And the one that stuck with me the most was the side dish with shrimp in it ㅇㅅㅇ It went surprisingly well with the meat.

The side dishes were refillable too, which I really appreciated >_<

The Jirisan aged pork finally arrives

Ta-da~ It came with pork belly, pork neck, and gabrisal, plus eggplant and mushrooms, which I love, grilled alongside. Being Jirisan-aged pork, the meat itself looked pretty hearty, wow.

Staff grill every cut for you

At Yukjjip, staff grill the meat right in front of you at the grill. They looked so busy that I almost felt bad for them TTTT but even while busy, they never forgot to keep flipping each piece and cooked it to just the right doneness.

So sweet of them, haha.

Juicy, tender and better than it looks

Once they flipped it, wow, the juiciness on that meat was insane lol.

They cut it into easy-to-eat, crisp bite-sized pieces and grilled it once more until golden.

The pork neck was tender, the pork belly was thick and hearty. A visual that makes you hungry just looking at it.

Once the meat was fully cooked, they plated it up ready to eat like this — okay,,, into my mouth it goes. Look at that color, right? They grilled it so well TT Because they grilled it for us, we didn't even need an apron!!!!!!

What order to eat the Yukjjip platter, and the white kimchi wrap

First, I tried it plain, without dipping anything — 1. just the natural flavor of the meat. Being aged pork, it felt soft and chewy!! It was full of juice and delicious even eaten plain.

2. Next, a little bit of salt!!! Eating it plain and simple brought out the meat's own flavor even more.

3. Then I tried it together with that shrimp side dish I'd had my eye on.

4. And I wrapped it in white kimchi (baek-kimchi). I can't forget this white kimchi lol. Eating it with the meat, it's crisp and refreshing, and it completely tames the heavier flavor of the aged pork TTTT

It was also great wrapped in wild garlic leaves, delicious with scallion kimchi, and amazing dipped deep in salted shrimp — one piece of meat, endless combinations to enjoy ㅇㅅㅇ

That day genuinely felt like a recovery meal. Working out, walking along Bulgwangcheon, and then eating meat on top of it — a complete recharge combo!!!!!

Doenjang rice rolls to finish

Finally, the doenjang rice rolls I ordered!! There was a slightly savory scent almost like cheonggukjang, and eating it after the meat felt satisfyingly filling — this is it,, exactly,,, this is the one!!!!!!

Perfect to order together if you'd feel like something's missing after just the meat@@

Who Yukjjip Eungam suits best

If you want to walk along Bulgwangcheon in the fall weather and then fill up on meat, I recommend Yukjjip! It's easy since staff grill the meat for you, and the aged pork is soft and chewy TTT If you're looking for a BBQ spot near Eungam Station, this is worth a visit!! Great for family dinners, friend gatherings, or company get-togethers. Also nice to pair with a walk along Bulgwangcheon.
