Weekday-evening Korean BBQ in Eungam-dong with garlic scapes: Yukjjip

What kind of place is Yukjjip, the Korean BBQ spot by Bulgwangcheon stream?

Yukjjip is a pork belly specialty restaurant right next to Bulgwangcheon stream in Eungam-dong, Eunpyeong, Seoul. I found it while looking for a place to eat meat near the stream — turns out it's famous for both its atmosphere and its meat!

It's right by the stream, so it's a great stop on a walk, and every time I passed by, the smell of grilling meat drifted out and made me look over. 🥩 The place is pretty clean too, so it seemed good for a casual dinner or for coming with friends or family.

I visited on a weekday evening, and there were already quite a few people eating. I love meat, so I was excited about which cuts I'd get to try haha 😊

Inside Yukjjip: two floors of seating and the meat fridge

Yukjjip's interior is split across the 1st and 2nd floors, so it felt bigger than expected, and there's a dedicated meat fridge too — it was nice to see they keep the meat fresh separately. Best of all, the place wasn't too noisy, so it was comfortable to eat there 😊

What we ordered at Yukjjip: the mixed platter and the soju and beer discount

I ordered the Yukjjip mixed platter. It let me try several different cuts at once, which was great for getting a bit of everything 😊 There was also a soju and beer discount event running — apparently it was so popular it got extended through October! Perfect for a light drink alongside the meat. 🍻

The Yukjjip mixed platter comes with pork neck, whole pork belly, and gabrisal, plus king oyster mushrooms, eggplant, and garlic scapes. Getting several cuts on one plate is perfect when you can't decide what to order 😊 It's not just meat either — grilling the vegetables alongside made the whole spread feel more substantial.

And the moment I saw the meat, I was struck by how thick it was. It looked even thicker in person than in photos, and you could just tell the juices were going to be intact...! 🥩 I was already looking forward to it before it even hit the grill :)

How does the staff-grilled pork at Yukjjip taste?

At Yukjjip, a staff member grills the meat for you, and the doneness has always been so satisfying that this is already my third visit 😊 The outside was nicely browned and the inside stayed moist — the first bite really was that tender. Especially impressive: even though the meat was thick, it was never dry, and the juices stayed locked in, getting more savory the more I chewed. 🥩

The king oyster mushrooms, eggplant, and garlic scapes grilled alongside came out moist and well-cooked too, and they went really well with the meat!! A bite of meat, a bite of veggie, and naturally beer came to mind...🍺 If you love thick-cut meat, you'll be completely satisfied haha

Why Yukjjip is becoming a regular stop by Bulgwangcheon stream

I've stopped by a few times while passing along Bulgwangcheon, and now it's almost become my regular spot 😊 Every time I pass by, that meaty smell drifts out, and it's not easy to just walk past it...🥩🔥
