Vanilla and strawberry lattes with free chocolate: Bibibidang Gyeongju

Today I stopped by Bibibidang, a premium traditional teahouse quietly tucked away on the first floor of the Woo Yang Museum of Contemporary Art in Gyeongju's Bomun district.

This place is already super famous for tea and desserts on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, so as soon as I heard they'd opened a Gyeongju branch I had to visit. Since it's set inside the museum, the space feels tidy and calm from the entrance onward, and the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows paired with the quiet tea-room mood makes it a perfect spot to unwind.

Inside the Woo Yang Museum: how to find it

Bibibidang is located inside Gyeongju's Woo Yang Museum, so it's a little tricky to find. Once you're inside the museum, keep going right and you'll come across the quietly hidden Bibibidang café.

Parking: free at the Hilton lot

If you search for Bibibidang for directions, you'll be routed to the Gyeongju Hilton hotel parking lot, which might throw you off — but that's correct. Parking is free, and since the lot is shared with the Hilton and nearby attractions, it's huge. Probably because it's a pricier neighborhood, the surrounding scenery is really pretty too, haha.

Atmosphere and seating

The moment I opened the door, the interior was so trendy and pretty I couldn't help but sigh in admiration. It's decorated in that on-trend aesthetic, with every corner carefully styled — a great spot to get the perfect photo no matter where you shoot.

There are solo seats too, and since it's right next to the museum, there are even art pieces on display — really nice.

In one corner of the store there's even a Bibibidang mascot character — it looks kind of roughly drawn, but it's cute, haha.

Menu and ordering

This place specializes in teahouse fare, so traditional teas and the pumpkin sikhye (sweet rice drink) bingsu are famous, but since it was hot today I went for cold coffee drinks instead.

The display case also had quite a few different desserts and delicious-looking breads on show.

True to a traditional teahouse, they also sell tea separately, nicely packaged to make a good souvenir from Gyeongju.

How the drinks tasted

Tada, my drinks and the complimentary chocolates arrived. Honestly I thought the drinks were a bit pricey, but given it's right next to the Gyeongju Hilton where land prices are steep, and they throw in a fancy chocolate with nuts and dried fruit with every drink, it actually feels like good value, haha.

Vanilla latte

The vanilla latte here has a subtle vanilla aroma that spreads through the cup along with a rich, smooth milk flavor — truly excellent. It's not that artificial, sharply sweet syrup taste but a more refined sweetness, so one sip immediately feels healing. Definitely a top café pick in Gyeongju's Bomun district.

Caffe latte

I also tried a sip of the caffe latte, and the deep, nutty coffee bean flavor was really tasty.

Strawberry latte

The strawberry latte pairs tangy strawberry pulp with sweet, smooth milk, making it a flavor almost everyone would enjoy. It's especially good-looking too, topped generously with crunchy freeze-dried strawberries. Sipping it, the smooth latte and the crunchy texture of the freeze-dried strawberries create a fun layered bite — a truly special menu item. Even the strawberry latte tastes refined.

The complimentary chocolate, one per person

This is the chocolate given free, one per person — it's way too fancy for something complimentary?!

It's a premium chocolate with a satisfying crunch from nutty nuts and chewy, tangy dried fruit, giving it a really deep, appealing flavor. Sweetness, nuttiness, and the fruit's tart crunch all come together at once, making for a delightful, complete finish to the dessert. Even the finishing touch was perfect at this Bomun district café. I'll have to come back next time I'm in the area.

Receipt review service: pumpkin sikhye bingsu

Lastly, here's the signature pumpkin sikhye bingsu I got for participating in the receipt review — I ate it at home so there's no photo of the contents, sorry 😭 The flavor combines the pumpkin's natural soft sweetness with sikhye's clean, savory taste in a pleasant way. It's heavier than regular sikhye but not overly sweet, so I think even parents would like it. It comes in a package, so it makes a nice gift too — next time I'll have to go eat the pumpkin sikhye bingsu in the store itself.

It's a place that nails taste, atmosphere, and relaxation all at once, so I'd strongly recommend it for a Bomun district outing or a Gyeongju date course.
