What is the window table and the dining room at Dadam like?

The thing that made me go 'wow' the moment I walked into Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch was how wide and comfortable the place felt. It's a fairly large space, so there was zero cramped feeling, and the interior was really clean. Sitting at a window seat in particular meant eating with an open view outside, which made the atmosphere feel even better.

With such a spacious layout and plenty of seating, this place would be a great choice for a family meal, a group gathering, or a work dinner too. It's also totally comfortable for a low-key visit with a friend like mine, or dropping by with friends after a workout.

What is on the self-bar: vegetables and noodle add-ins

The self-bar at Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is set up with unlimited bean sprouts, bok choy, mushrooms and other vegetables, plus a variety of noodle and starch add-ins to go with the shabu-shabu. Once we sat down, we headed straight for the self-bar set up on one side of the restaurant. What is shabu-shabu without fresh vegetables, right?

The self-bar here was really well kept and tidy. Even with vegetable prices going up these days, the vegetables were visibly fresh and generously stocked, which was genuinely touching. Everything is set up so you can help yourself as much as you like, and it felt like really good value.

Spicy broth, sliced meat and wolnamssam rice paper wraps

You can choose between a clear broth or a spicy broth depending on your taste. I went with my usual favorite, the spicy broth. Loading the boiling broth with the mountain of bean sprouts, vegetables and meat we'd piled up, then simmering it down, made for a broth that was rich and refreshing at the same time.

The quality of the meat, in particular, was excellent. Since it's sliced thin and served that way, a quick swish through the hot broth cooked it perfectly tender without ever getting chewy — so easy to eat. Wrapping the well-cooked meat and crunchy vegetables generously in chewy rice paper, then dipping it into the restaurant's special sauce, was a wolnamssam combination that spread happiness through my whole mouth. The meat and vegetables came out so generously that my friend and I ate until we were completely stuffed, without holding back at all.

Finishing with kalguksu, porridge, ice cream and coffee

No matter how full you already are, you can't skip the carbs that close out a shabu-shabu course, right? We slurped up chewy kalguksu noodles in the deeply simmered broth, then reduced the remaining broth down to make a savory porridge — a really satisfying way to complete the meal.

Once the meal was fully finished, you can have dessert time with the ice cream and coffee available at the restaurant. After all that hot broth, having cold iced coffee and sweet ice cream cleaned my palate and put me in a great mood. Being able to handle everything from the meal to dessert in one place made for a 200% satisfying experience.
