Namwirye shabu-shabu restaurant with a 13,900 won kids' price: Dadam

In short

Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is an all-you-can-eat beef and vegetable shabu-shabu restaurant on the 3rd floor of G&G Plaza, near Exit 3 of Namwirye Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a Saturday lunch return visit, a family of four paid 21,900 won each for two adults and 13,900 won each for two elementary schoolers, piling up beef brisket, beef chuck and vegetables from the self-bar before wolnamssam (Vietnamese-style rice paper wraps) and an affogato for dessert. The window seats at Dadam were already booked out, but the four-seat tables in the middle of the hall sat far enough apart for a relaxed meal with kids.

I remembered how good the shabu-shabu was last time I went with Yunsik, so we headed back this weekend for a family lunch. Yunsik and Mini Mani have been obsessed with shabu-shabu lately, so while thinking about where to go for unlimited meat and vegetables, we decided on our already-tested go-to spot. It's near Namwirye Station so it's easy to get to by subway, plus there's parking in the building — Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch, already a word-of-mouth favorite among Wirye locals.

What the seating and atmosphere are like at Dadam Shabu Shabu in Wirye

Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is on the 3rd floor of G&G Plaza, and the window seats were already fully booked for Saturday lunch. Coming back again, it was still spotless, and the comfortable green sofa seats and warm wood-tone interior gave our family a welcoming, cozy greeting.

The window seats with the appealing view were already fully booked by early guests, so we were seated at a comfortable table for four in the center of the hall instead. I thought the window seats, where you can eat while looking out at the open scenery, would be perfect to reserve ahead of time for a future family gathering or get-together.

Of course, the center hall seating also had wide table spacing, making it comfortable to dine at a relaxed pace with kids without feeling cramped.

Dadam Shabu Shabu prices and how the self-bar works

At Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch, you check the number of diners and choose a broth option on the tablet, then it's a fully self-service system using the self-bar. That day's prices were 21,900 won each for two adults and 13,900 won each for two elementary schoolers.

The table came with cutlery, a spoon-and-chopstick set, small plates, water, cups, plus bowls for shabu-shabu vegetables, wolnamssam vegetables, and meat. The tablet at each seat kindly walks you through how to use the restaurant — check the headcount, pick your preferred broth option, and then everything runs on an All Self self-bar system. Vegetables and meat, of course, but also the warm water for softening the rice paper for wolnamssam, all come from the hot water dispenser next to the coffee machine.

We headed straight to the vegetable section of the self-bar, where a mist sprayed to keep everything fresh — napa cabbage, bok choy, mung bean sprouts, water dropwort, plus mushrooms, rice cakes, and even noodle sarimi (wheat noodles).

The meat freezer was also generously stocked with savory beef brisket and lean beef chuck, no shortage at all — I was really satisfied with a system where you can grab as much as you want.

The broth at Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch was ready by the time we got back from grabbing vegetables. It's the style where you put vegetables in the rich broth first, then briefly cook the beef — exactly the same taste as last time.

The broth was ready while we were off getting vegetables.

Piling plenty of vegetables into the bubbling, rich broth first, then briefly cooking the tender beef and pulling it out — the deep, clean broth flavor was exactly as I remembered it.

The wolnamssam — crisp vegetables and meat piled generously onto rice paper softened in warm water — was also light yet hearty, hard to put the chopsticks down. Yunsik and Mini Mani happily helped themselves to meat like old pros, which confirmed once again that this is a never-fail shabu-shabu spot in Wirye, no matter when you visit.

After finishing the meal full, the soft-serve ice cream and my favorite affogato for dessert at the end were a real treat. Sipping the rich espresso paired with sweet ice cream, our second meal at Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch wrapped up feeling good and satisfied.
