Why we picked dakgalbi for dinner in Gangnam
While looking for good-value Gangnam Station restaurants, I visited Dakgalbijeon, a spot where you can enjoy dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) and potato pancake together.
Eating out in Gangnam usually means the bill climbs fast once you add a side dish to your main, but this place had a menu called gamssadak — dakgalbi wrapped in potato pancake — that felt like a nice change of pace.
There were two of us, so we ordered the gamssadak for two and the icy nurungju (rice wine). Having a set combo like this instead of just dakgalbi alone made it easy to combine dinner and drinks. ^^

Today we ordered the gamssadak for two and the icy nurungju.

The two of us spent ₩46,000 total, which felt like a great option for anyone prioritizing value at a Gangnam Station restaurant. I also liked that the dakgalbi and potato pancake weren't ordered separately but designed from the start to be eaten together.

What I was most curious about was the gamssadak. You can eat it like regular dakgalbi, but true to its name, it's meant to be wrapped in potato pancake.
The chewy chicken was well coated in sauce, and adding the mild, savory potato pancake kept the seasoning from feeling too intense. Tearing off a piece of the pancake and topping it with dakgalbi gave every bite a mix of textures, so I kept reaching for more.
Being able to switch between plain dakgalbi and the potato pancake wrap kept a single menu item from feeling monotonous.
How the potato pancake and dakgalbi taste together
The potato pancake held its shape well enough to wrap the dakgalbi, while staying moist on the inside.
As the dakgalbi sauce soaked in, the pancake itself picked up a spicy kick, and eating it with the chicken made for a filling bite. If you love dakgalbi seasoning but find it a bit heavy after a while, pairing it with potato pancake is a pretty fun way to switch things up.

The icy nurungju we ordered alongside the dakgalbi came in a generous 1.2-liter bottle. It arrived nicely chilled with a slushy layer of ice, perfect for sipping between bites of spicy dakgalbi, and it paired well with the potato pancake too.
Dakgalbi and jeon naturally go well with makgeolli-style drinks, and having it served ice-cold made it a great fit for an evening drinking session. If you're thinking beyond just a meal to a light drink as well, this is a great pairing with the gamssadak.

When judging value at a Gangnam Station restaurant, what matters isn't just whether the price is low, but whether the portion actually works for two people. With the gamssadak for two plus the icy nurungju coming to ₩46,000 total, it didn't feel like a big splurge for a meal-and-drinks combo.
I especially liked being able to enjoy both dakgalbi and potato pancake within a single menu item instead of ordering them separately, and it made for a comfortable choice for a dinner with a friend or a meal after work.

Dakgalbijeon was a good pick when looking for something a bit different from plain dakgalbi. The gamssadak, wrapping dakgalbi in potato pancake, let us enjoy two dishes in one, and adding the cold icy nurungju made it easy to combine dinner and drinks. It's a great restaurant to keep in mind when you want to eat and enjoy the atmosphere in Gangnam with someone else, without spending too much.^^
