As the weather started cooling down a bit, I've been getting into the fun of grilling meat outdoors after work in the evenings. Walking along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, I thought of the duck restaurant near Daeheung Station and ended up at Gongjung Dodeok (공중도덕)! It's easy to reach from Daeheung Station too, so it's a great spot to combine with a walk and a meal. There's outdoor seating right in front of the restaurant, which makes it an interesting find in Gongdeok.

This duck restaurant near Daeheung Station doesn't have its own parking lot, so I used the Korea Listed Companies Association parking lot, a 1-minute walk away. First 30 minutes ₩2,000, ₩4,000 for 1 hour, +₩700 every 10 minutes after that.

One of Gongjung Dodeok's charms is definitely the vibe you get outdoors! The outdoor tables carry a mood reminiscent of a Joseon-era hanok restaurant — kind of like an old-school tavern. The indoors is comfortable and casual, while outside there are bench-style seats set up, which I'd recommend for this kind of weather — a great yard-seating restaurant near the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail.

What comes with the Gongjung Half-and-Half set for two

What we ordered at this Gongdeok meat restaurant was the Gongjung Half-and-Half set for 2 people. Rather than eating duck prepared just one way, I wanted to try both the seasoned duck (jumulleok) and the roasted duck, so this was the pick.

The Half-and-Half set comes with deeply seasoned jumulleok on one side, plain roasted duck on the other, plus minari (water celery) and duck potato stew (Gonggam-tang) — honestly a very generous amount for two people. It's a satisfying setup that lets you enjoy grilled duck and a soup dish all at once.

Barley shrimp and minari pancake

We also ordered the barley shrimp minari pancake alongside the Half-and-Half set. While waiting for the duck to cook, we tried it as a kind of appetizer — a pancake made entirely of minari, generously loaded with grilled barley shrimp, giving off both a fragrant and nutty flavor. The texture, taste, and aroma were surprisingly special and really delicious.

One part of the Half-and-Half set I especially liked was the duck potato stew — the kicker is that Gonggam-tang actually has raw duck meat in it!! The spicy yet savory duck stew pairs well with drinks and also makes for a great meal on its own.

Roasted duck: clean, unseasoned flavor

Finally, time to taste the duck this Daeheung Station restaurant is known for!!! The Half-and-Half set brings the roasted duck, minari, and jumulleok all on one plate, so you don't have to agonize over which style to choose. Starting with the roasted duck — unlike the jumulleok, there's no heavy sauce, so you get to enjoy the plain, savory flavor of the duck itself, which lets you appreciate duck's unique charm!

Next up is the strongly seasoned duck jumulleok!! The sauce isn't just lightly coating the surface — it's deeply soaked into the meat, so as it cooks on the grill, the seasoned aroma really rises up. Eaten plain, it's got a savory-sweet balance along with the soft texture of the duck. Combined with the side dishes, radish wraps, and perilla leaves with the two accompanying sauces, everything came together so well that I kept reaching for more!!!

The best kind of day to visit Gongjung Dodeok

This duck restaurant near Daeheung Station, Gongjung Dodeok, isn't really a place to eat just one style of duck — what stuck with me was being able to enjoy jumulleok, roasted duck, minari, and Gonggam-tang all in one meal! Getting both the richly seasoned jumulleok and the plain natural flavor of duck in one set is something I'd highly recommend. And with raw duck meat even going into the Gonggam-tang, it feels like a nearly perfect menu.
