A Yulha BBQ spot worth trying

Main image of Godansu, a BBQ restaurant in Yulha, Gimhae
Table spread of meat at Godansu Gimhae Yulha

My husband and I lived our whole lives in Busan before moving to Gimhae! Honestly, having no roots here felt a little strange at first, but lately I've been having fun collecting one pretty spot or delicious meal at a time.

Our little Chaltteok, who moved here with us as a newborn, has grown up quite a bit and now comes out to eat with us :) I think meat might be our whole family's favorite food — we're a carnivore family!

So when I heard there was a brand-new BBQ spot in Yulha, I ran straight over. Can't resist a new opening. That place is Godansu.

Godansu Gimhae Yulha: location, hours and parking

Godansu is at 100 Gwandong-ro, 1F, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. It's open daily from 5 PM to late, 11 PM, and there's a dedicated parking lot right across from the restaurant.

Why Godansu Gimhae Yulha is easy with a baby: book ahead for a high chair, baby dishes and gim

We booked for 2 adults and 1 baby, and when we arrived they'd already set out a baby chair, a toddler chair, baby dishes, and even seaweed for her, ㅠㅠ. Moms tear up over little things like this...! Booking ahead meant they set the table up in advance too, which was so nice.

The vibe at this new Yulha BBQ spot was great. A little hip, kind of like that Jeonpo-dong feel haha. The interior is spacious too, so it can seat a lot of people at once, which is great.

Godansu menu and prices: four servings of pork belly at 13,000 won

Every table had a tablet, which was handy for checking the full menu and prices before ordering.

  • Pork belly / pork neck: ₩13,000
  • Pork jowl / Sobaeksan gabrisal: ₩14,000
  • Steamed white kimchi: ₩6,000

  • Green tangerine soba / water bibim noodles / bibim noodles: ₩7,000
  • Hanoi platter: ₩8,000

We just went with 4 servings of pork belly. We debated adding pork neck too, but that day we were both craving pork belly, hard..!

The 2,000-won steamed egg that tasted like Japan

After ordering, the appetizers and side dishes were set out along with the meat, so I got to feast with my eyes and my mouth. A place that has steamed egg is already a win..!

The visual had me excited for the taste too, and it turned out the steamed egg wasn't made with plain water but with some kind of seafood or bonito broth..! It tasted just like the steamed egg I had in Japan, and I loved it. It went down so smoothly I basically ate it like pudding haha.

Staff grill the pork for you at the table

At Godansu, a staff member grills the meat for you. While my husband and I were chatting away, the meat just showed up, done. Green onions came out with it too — I got secretly excited..!

Honestly, aside from not being great at grilling myself, going out to eat with my husband and kid is already chaotic — if I also had to grill, I don't think I'd ever feel like I'd had a relaxed, happy meal ㅠㅠ. Anyone who hates grilling their own meat, come gather at this Yulha BBQ spot~

Baekjinju rice and the free white kimchi doenjang stew

We ordered rice along with the meat, and it was labeled baekjinju (white pearl) rice — genuinely glossy, with a pearl-like sheen that caught my eye haha. It tasted as good as it looked! It was delicious even eaten with just the baby's seaweed haha.

The meat was grilling up beautifully~ hehe, and then something we hadn't even ordered showed up?

Free white kimchi doenjang stew served as an opening service

It was a white kimchi doenjang stew, given as an opening service! It had that thick, bubbling, well-reduced texture, and I was surprised how delicious it was~

My husband and I agreed — a real service item shouldn't be some bland throwaway dish, it should be something this good, so it actually sticks in your memory haha. It felt like proper service, and we immediately ordered another bowl of rice ㅠㅠ

You know how it goes — the first bite with salt..!! Then grilled green onion, then a bite with wasabi and salted seafood on top haha.

Beer poured into a stainless steel cup

Left the car at home, so a beer with the pork

I couldn't resist a beer~ The weather had cooled off nicely, so we'd left the car at home to take a walk around the neighborhood, and ended up clinking glasses. The glasses were stainless steel too, so it stayed cold from the first sip to the last haha.

Finishing with yuja cold buckwheat noodles

Since we already had the free white kimchi doenjang stew, we skipped more rice and ordered noodles instead — yuzu cold buckwheat noodles. Genuinely cold and savory noodles, with little bursts of yuzu tang throughout the broth that made it really charming!

Is Godansu Gimhae Yulha worth it with a child?

We're collecting our Yulha favorites one by one, and when I heard about this new BBQ place I ran straight over — Godansu had gorgeous interior and made it so comfortable to eat there even with our kid.

They grilled the meat for us, and then even asked if our daughter could have some juice and brought that out too haha. With this kind of thoughtfulness in every detail, I bet the locals around here will keep coming back!
