Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb near Jeongja Station: fully booked even on a Wednesday

Two hungry eaters here, on a lamb rampage. We wanted lamb but also wanted something hot and stewy, so we headed to Yangmadam's Bundang direct branch near Jeongja Station. Even on a random Wednesday, the place was packed with reservations. They even set up outdoor tables in the evening — must be a real local favorite!

What comes in the shoulder rack lamb couple set for two

Turns out this place is famous as a company dinner spot in Jeongja-dong...! With big companies like Hynix and Naver nearby, it seems like a go-to after-work dinner destination.

We ordered the shoulder rack grilled lamb couple set for two. It comes with a plate of grilled lamb (450g), fried dumplings, and a lamb stew for one — a great combo for pairing with beer!!

It's ready in about 5 minutes! Interestingly, they serve nachos alongside the cheese sauce.

The meat came already grilled to perfection, and they even gave it a torch finish right before we ate it, which made it taste even better!! When you grill your own meat, there's oil splattering everywhere... and it always feels awkward when one person grills while the other eats. It's so much more relaxing at a place like this where they do the grilling for you!!

Whenever I crave lamb I always go to Iganae Lamb Skewers, but this place exceeded my expectations with clean, delicious flavor. Very satisfied!!

The side dish of fresh kimchi salad (geotjeori) that comes with the meal. Totally refreshing, perfect to eat a bite at a time whenever things get too rich.

The sauce lineup, and the boiled lamb we skipped

Since this place specializes in boiled lamb, the sauce lineup was really extensive. I only knew lamb as skewers or grilled ribs, but there were menu items I'd never seen before — boiled lamb, lamb barbecue, lamb stew, and more.

We considered trying the boiled lamb at first, but since it felt a bit unfamiliar, we went with the grilled lamb ribs we knew instead..!! But watching the tables around us all order the boiled lamb made me a little sad ㅠㅠ Looking at the photos, it looked so tender and delicious!! I'll try it next time~~~~

How do the lamb ribs taste? Nutty, with no gamey smell

The grilled lamb ribs were pretty delicious too!! Nutty flavor with no gamey smell at all. There was a slight fattiness, but it actually came across as even more nutty, and eating the dessert stew afterward washed it all down completely. (The dessert stew is seriously delicious, highly recommend.)

Whenever I felt too full, a bite of the fresh kimchi salad reset everything. If you like tangy flavors like me, this is absolutely delicious.

Nachos topped with meat, cheese, and herbs — a slightly unfamiliar combo, but pretty tasty~~~ Though honestly, just dipping the nacho straight into the cheese sauce is even more delicious haha;;

The friendly owner quickly brought out the fried dumplings too. They seemed freshly fried, crispy, with a sweet sauce reminiscent of sweet and sour pork — great with beer, puts you in a good mood.

The grilled lamb ribs came out at 450g, which was just the right amount for two people! If you have a bigger appetite, adding rice and eating it with the dessert stew should fill you right up~~

Why the perilla lamb stew at the end steals the meal

The dessert lamb stew here is genuinely delicious….. It came out as a spicy stew loaded with ground perilla seed ㅏㅏ Full of bean sprouts at the bottom with plenty of lamb meat too, truly delicious! Spicy, savory, and refreshing all at once, so good ㅠ It's a bit like gamjatang (pork bone stew) but maybe even richer...!!! Perfect match for my old-man taste buds.

When we were just eating the meat, I wondered if we should order something extra, but once we got to the stew, it was more than filling enough~~~~ Adding just one bowl of rice is the perfect amount! ><

Spicy, salty stew. The grilled lamb was delicious, but personally the stew was so, so much more my style ㅠㅠ Next time I'll come back for the boiled lamb rib set or order the lamb stew on its own~~!
