Jumbo jjajangmyeon at a Yeoksam Chinese restaurant: Jjamppong Jijon
In short
Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch is a large Chinese restaurant on the second floor of a building on Teheran-ro 10-gil in Gangnam, Seoul. Two of us ordered jumbo jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and sweet and sour pork in glutinous rice batter: the jjajang was sweet and smooth enough that even the jumbo portion never felt heavy, while the jjamppong broth was rich and clean with plenty of clams. Drinks, side dishes, rice and after-meal coffee and tea are all free, so dessert is covered in the same visit.

This is genuinely one of my favorite spots, so I can confidently call it my top pick for Chinese food. This time I went with a friend and properly worked through jumbo jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and sweet and sour pork with glutinous rice batter.

How far do the free drinks, rice and side dishes go?
A lot of restaurants near Gangnam Station have cramped tables or get overwhelmingly crowded, but Jjamppong Jijon has a pretty large interior.

It's comfortable whether you're in a group, eating solo, on a date, or grabbing lunch or dinner as an office worker!

What I especially love is the basic service that comes standard here. Drinks, side dishes, and rice are all free, and after the meal you can enjoy coffee and tea too. Being able to eat until full and handle dessert all in one visit is a real perk.

There's also a dim sum lab inside the store, which gives it a different vibe from a typical jjamppong specialty place.
Jumbo jjajangmyeon: sweet, smooth and never heavy
Honestly, if I had to pick the single tastiest dish from this visit, it would be the jjajangmyeon. That's why I went straight for the jumbo portion from the start, haha.

The sauce isn't overly salty or greasy — it's moderately sweet and really smooth. It clings nicely to the noodles, and it's the kind of flavor you can keep eating without getting sick of it.

Some places serve jjajangmyeon that's great for the first few bites but turns heavy by the end — here, even the jumbo portion stayed delicious all the way through.

If you're hunting for the best jjajangmyeon near Gangnam Station, I really think you should try the jjajang here too, not just the jjamppong.
Jjamppong broth packed with clams
Living up to its name, Jjamppong Jijon can't skip on the jjamppong. Just looking at the bowl, there's a generous amount of seafood, especially clams. With meat added in too, the broth isn't just spicy — it's rich and refreshing at the same time.

A broth where the clean taste of seafood and the deep savoriness of meat come through together!

Personally, I prefer jjamppong with a rich stock over one that's just spicy, and this hit the spot exactly. The broth kept pulling me back — noodles, then broth, then noodles again.

Since rice is free too, I'd recommend finishing the noodles and then mixing a little rice into the leftover jjamppong broth!

The thinly sliced pickled radish was a nice touch too~
Chewy sweet and sour pork in glutinous rice batter
It felt like a waste to only have jjajang and jjamppong, so we ordered the sweet and sour pork with glutinous rice batter too.

The batter has that signature chewy, springy texture from the glutinous rice, and the sauce has a tangy kick, making it perfect to pick at between bites of jjajang or jjamppong.

Especially after the rich jjamppong broth, biting into the sweet and tangy pork feels like it resets your palate!

Ordering the combo of jumbo jjajang, jjamppong, and sweet and sour pork worked well since all three had such different appeal — I never got tired of eating through to the end.

Why Jjamppong Jijon is worth a return visit in Yeoksam
Part of why I love this place is the food, but the owner is also genuinely kind. No matter how good the food is, if the service feels lacking, you hesitate to come back — but at Jjamppong Jijon I always feel comfortable during the meal, which is probably why I keep returning.

A spacious interior, a solid core menu of jjajang, jjamppong, and sweet and sour pork, plus free drinks, rice, coffee and tea — all real advantages. I especially love the jjajangmyeon here. It's sweet, smooth, and never greasy, so even the jumbo portion goes down easy.

If you're looking for the best jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, or sweet and sour pork near Gangnam Station, I think it's worth a visit. For me, Jjamppong Jijon is still my favorite Chinese restaurant near Gangnam Station. :)
