Daegu bossam restaurant near Gongpyeong Intersection: Uldong Bossam
In short
Uldong Bossam is a bossam (boiled pork wrap) restaurant on Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu, between Dongin Hillstate and Daegu City Hall. The writer arrived right at opening with her in-law family and ordered one large bossam platter for each table plus one minari (water dropwort) pancake and one potato pancake, grinding sesame seeds in a stone bowl to mix Uldong Bossam's signature sauce. The boiled pork was tender with no gamey smell, the elders and a six-year-old cleared their rice bowls, and delivery through Coupang Eats is available.

I recently got some spicy kimchi from a friend's mom and it was so good it made me crave bossam (boiled pork wrapped in cabbage). Kimjang season is coming up too, but since I don't know how to make kimchi myself, I chose the path of just buying it, haha. Daegu bossam! This is Uldong Bossam, a Gyodong favorite.
Where is Uldong Bossam, and where can you park?
Uldong Bossam sits between Dongin Hillstate and Daegu City Hall. I parked near Hillstate, but if you want easier parking there's the City Hall lot, or a Kakao T parking lot about five minutes away.

The elders in my family love going to Dongseongno hotspots too, so since I happened to be meeting my grandmother-in-law, I wanted to introduce them to a good restaurant, and we all had a great meal together with my in-law family, haha. A tale of everyone in the family eating well and me getting praised for finding a good place.

Inside Uldong Bossam: dining room and menu
Uldong Bossam has baby chairs and more tables than I expected! The wood-tone interior matches the menu well, and since we timed it to opening hours, we were the first ones seated, haha.
The menu is broadly divided into bossam / rice bowls / bossam hot pot / pancakes, and the prices weren't bad at all. For lunch, ordering individual set meals seems nice since each person gets their own tray, and for an evening drink, the bossam, hot pot, and pancakes are all delicious together, so it seems like a good combination, haha.
Since there were a lot of us, we ordered one large bossam platter per table and split a minari pancake at one table and a potato pancake at another, haha. Also, note that steamed rice is an extra add-on when you order bossam.

How the sesame-grinding bowl makes Uldong Bossam's signature sauce
When you order bossam, it comes with side dishes, wrap vegetables, spicy sauce, and a sesame-grinding bowl for making Uldong Bossam's own signature sauce.

After grinding the sesame, you pour in the sauce on the table, and it went so well with the bossam. It seems to be soy-sauce based, not too salty, mildly sweet without being sour — refreshing, I guess you could say. This might be hard to explain, but if you dip just one piece, you'll immediately understand what I mean, hahaha.
The large bossam platter: pork belly and jowl, tender with no gamey smell
Served on a plate with radish salad, minari (water dropwort), onion, and chili peppers, Uldong Bossam's bossam comes with both regular pork belly cuts and pork jowl. It was pale and tender with absolutely no gamey smell — even the elders raved about how good it was!!
The kind of taste that would make even a picky six-year-old clean their plate!

True to its reputation as a Gyodong bossam favorite, it's delicious wrapped with the vegetables, and the meat itself is boiled so well that it's amazing even eaten with rice alone.

A stew comes free with bossam orders, and we ate it with rice — it would have been perfect with a drink too.

Minari pancake and potato pancake with cheese on top
We wanted to try both, so we ordered one minari pancake and one potato pancake and split each in half. That day, all the staff happened to be men, and the elders were saying things like, how did the guys fry these pancakes so thin and crispy?? Whoever marries them is getting a free pass, hahahaha.
For the potato pancake, they grate cheese on top like this — I came here to eat, but for those of you reading this, whether you're Gen Z or Gen Alpha, if you're going on a date, you should absolutely go to a place with good visuals and delicious drinking snacks like this. It's crispy and delicious, and with the grated cheese on top, the flavor is just next level.

Lunch near Daegu City Hall, or delivery by Coupang Eats
Uldong Bossam also has plum tea near the entrance, so the elders got a perfectly clean palate-cleansing finish as they left — a complete and satisfying meal. Anyone working near City Hall or this area can come for a satisfying lunch tray!!
The bossam was so delicious that on the way to the car, I immediately searched Coupang Eats to see if this place delivers ^ㅠ^ Turns out it does deliver, haha. This year, once I get some kimjang kimchi, instead of struggling to boil the pork myself, I'm just going to order from Uldong Bossam~~~ A place where you can have delicious bossam and good-looking pancakes with a drink any time, lunch or dinner — if you don't have a go-to bossam spot yet, this is it.
