Jeonpo-dong curry restaurant with osmanthus hand wash: Sarugak20
In short
Sarugak20 is a Japanese curry restaurant in a basement space in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin, Busan, a 3-minute walk from Jeonpo Station Exit 8. The writer ordered the brisket cream curry and the special curry with karaage, shrimp tempura and a poached egg, then browsed the beaded bracelets and rings sold in one corner of Sarugak20 and washed up with its golden osmanthus hand wash. For a soft, mellow cream curry, Sarugak20 is the answer.

These days it feels like all of Busan's young crowd heads to Jeonpo haha. So I followed the trend and found myself a genuinely delicious Japanese curry restaurant in Jeonpo. It's only 3 minutes from Jeonpo Station, so it's super accessible, and the interior is so pretty it has real mood — and honestly, nothing beats eating good food in a pretty place ^*^
Where is Sarugak20, and what are its hours?

It's almost right there as soon as you come out of Jeonpo Station Exit 8! Turn off the main road and it's in a small alley, a basement curry shop haha.
The owner also runs a Smart Store, so you can get the curry delivered!! Delivery is available too haha, and apparently it tastes exactly like eating it in the restaurant, so if you're far away, definitely try ordering it! Since I'm relatively close, I think I'll be visiting the shop pretty often.

The outside was just so cute! The tiny standing sign matched the storefront perfectly. All the popular spots in Yongsan, Seoul have this kind of vibe, so it was nice to get that Yongridan-gil feeling right here in Jeonpo haha.

Inside the basement space and the counter seats
Sarugak20 is a curry shop down in the basement, and once you go down, the entrance is on the left! The place was so, so charming haha. It felt like the owner's touch reached even the little corners — really precious.

The inside had a warm wood-tone feel too! It's a basement curry shop but not gloomy at all — warm sunlight actually reaches down into the store haha. Wood tones plus sunlight! Such a great match.
There were counter (dachi) seats too, so whether you come as a pair or alone, it seemed like plenty of options haha.

The corner of Sarugak20 selling beaded bracelets and rings
In one corner of Sarugak20 they were also selling pretty beaded bracelets and rings! Things like phone charms were so cute!! ㅠㅠ I wanted to buy one, and it's still stuck in my head ㅠ. It was so nice to browse a bit before eating! And the prices were so reasonable too!

What we ordered: brisket cream curry, special curry and sides
The curry prices are so reasonable! Sarugak20 has two kinds — cream curry and special curry — and since we wanted to try both, we ordered brisket cream curry and special curry! We also wanted to try some extras, so we got karaage (Japanese fried chicken), shrimp tempura, and a poached egg too!

Of course we ordered a drink too haha. The drink came out first!!

The food came out fast! It was so delicious and pretty ㅠㅠ almost too pretty to eat. And the portion of curry was so generous, I felt like I could order an extra rice too haha.

After a short wait, the karaage and the 2-piece shrimp tempura arrived haha. The curry already comes with plenty of toppings, but for me it wasn't quite enough (firmly). lol. Doesn't it look so crispy and good?
Brisket cream curry, my top pick at Sarugak20
The brisket cream curry was so smooth ~! Personally it was my top pick haha. The curry might seem mild, but the flavor was actually quite rich, and the cream seemed to deepen the curry flavor even more. On top of that, the savory brisket made the curry feel even more perfect!

I love curry so much that I eat Japanese curry, Indian curry, and Korean curry without any preference. I've tried all kinds, but Sarugak20's cream curry was the smoothest I've had!! It was great with rice, but it was also amazing with the fried sides I ordered separately.
Special curry: worth recommending
Compared to the cream curry, this one felt richer and thicker! Kind of like a stronger version of hayashi rice, maybe~ It went really well with the sausage that came with it, and with the poached egg I ordered alongside too haha. I felt like the cream curry would pair best with karaage or shrimp tempura!

Scooping up the sausage with a big spoonful of curry was so good. The curry had plenty of ground meat in it, which made the flavor even more well-rounded!
Sarugak20 also has a half-and-half curry so you can try both kinds — that seems like a great order too! And adding karaage on top would be the icing on the cake haha.

The fried items were super crispy, so of course they went well with the curry haha. It probably would have tasted great even with plain rice, no curry needed! But of course, paired with the special curry it's unbeatable haha.
The golden osmanthus hand wash in the restroom
The inside was so pretty that I looked around a bit more — with plenty of seats and cute little details, I kept finding myself browsing haha.

In one corner of the shop there was even a golden osmanthus (geummokseo)-scented hand wash and hand cream. The soft osmanthus scent drifting around put me in such a good mood haha.
If you want to try Japanese curry, definitely stop by Sarugak20! They don't carry spinach curry or mushroom soup in-store, so be sure to order those through delivery instead!
