Garak-dong chicken noodle restaurant, extra-large bowl: Hanyang Dak
In short
Hanyang Dak Kalguksu Main Branch (한양닭칼국수 본점) is a chicken kalguksu (chicken noodle soup) restaurant in Garak-dong, Songpa, Seoul, two minutes from Gyeongchal Hospital Station Exit 3. The order was spicy chicken kalguksu with scallion topping at 11,900 won plus 1,000 won for an extra-large portion, a boiled pork set for 10,900 won and galbi mandu (rib dumplings) at 6,900 won, and the perilla-seed broth was rich while the spicy kimchi from the self-bar was the real kick. The weather's suddenly turned cool and all I wanted was a hot, spicy broth! So I searched for local favorites in Garak-dong and ended up at Hanyang Dak Kalguksu Main Branch. Even the friend who came with me — a self-declared kalguksu skeptic — declared she'd definitely be back, crowning it a Garak-dong must-visit..! Let me tell you about it.
Where is Hanyang Dak Kalguksu, and what about parking and hours?
Hanyang Dak Kalguksu Main Branch is at 1F, 4 Songi-ro 23-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, just 2 minutes from Gyeongchal Hospital Station Exit 3. Hours are Mon–Fri 11:00–21:00, Sat–Sun 11:00–20:00, with no break time.

I drove there, but there's no parking right in front of Hanyang Dak Kalguksu Main Branch, ㅠㅠ

Instead, there's a Gyeongchal Hospital parking lot 2 minutes from the restaurant, and it's cheap too — ₩3,000 an hour haha.

📌 See the photo above for the detailed Gyeongchal Hospital parking rates.

Inside Hanyang Dak Kalguksu: easy for solo diners, kiosk ordering
The interior at Hanyang Dak Kalguksu Main Branch felt really comfortable, with lots of tables. I noticed plenty of people eating solo there too.

You order and pay right at the table kiosk~

The self-serve bar: mild kimchi and spicy kimchi
I went to grab side dishes at the self-bar and found both a mild kimchi and a spicy kimchi. They said they season it with cheongyang chili powder only — no capsaicin, no MSG. The kimchi was so crisp and delicious!!
Hanyang Dak Kalguksu menu and prices

A rich chicken broth simmered over 12+ hours every day, house-made noodles cold-aged for 48 hours, and both spicy and mild kimchi made in-house to pair perfectly with the kalguksu. The signature dak kalguksu piles chewy aged noodles and mild chicken meat on top of the deep, rich chicken broth.
Here's what I ordered — let me show you piece by piece!
- ✔️ Spicy chicken kalguksu with scallion topping ₩11,900 + double portion ₩1,000
- ✔️ Boiled pork set add-on ₩10,900
- ✔️ Galbi mandu ₩6,900
- ✔️ Cider ₩2,000
Spicy chicken kalguksu with scallion topping: why the scallions matter

Ah, I didn't know this, but Hanyang Dak Kalguksu offers scallion topping and seaweed topping separately, or both together, ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ. Not knowing that, I picked scallion over seaweed. But turns out the scallions are essential — so crisp and delicious!!!!

And the broth is amazing ㅠ. A spicy flavor creeps up on you, there's a ton of chicken topping, and the broth itself just tastes like pure chicken ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ. Plus they add perilla seed powder so the broth turns rich and velvety... I'm dying.

Wow, it's genuinely so good. And the spicy kimchi is the real kicker — next time I want to try the regular white-broth version of Hanyang Dak Kalguksu topped with spicy kimchi❤️
Herbal boiled pork set, a 10,900-won add-on

For just ₩10,900 more you can add the boiled pork set. There were two of us, and we added the pork to our double-portion kalguksu — an absolutely excellent call. It's herbal boiled pork, so it's healthy on top of being tender and chewy.

I ate it wrapped up neatly with the spicy kimchi.
Galbi mandu (rib dumplings) at Hanyang Dak Kalguksu
The galbi mandu were packed full inside! Especially since the soup was so spicy, I kept reaching for a dumpling to cool my mouth every time I got the hiccups ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ. The combo was just too good. I'm basically a professional eater at this point.
If you happen to be near Garak Market or Gyeongchal Hospital, I highly recommend Hanyang Dak Kalguksu Main Branch!
