Where is Bongpo Hoega in Goseong?
Bongpo Hoega is a raw fish restaurant at 69 Haksachon-gil, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, really close to Bongpo Beach. It's open from 10:00 to 21:30, with last order at 20:00.

I stopped by Bongpo Beach and had the good fortune to find this Goseong raw fish restaurant nearby. I thought about eating in, but worried it would throw off my next plans, so I asked about takeout instead, and the staff were kind about it. It was really close to Bongpo Beach and easy to find. Parking is available, but the lot isn't big. If you look around the nearby alleys or streets you can find a spot though, so it wasn't too stressful.

Inside Bongpo Hoega: atmosphere and seating
Overall the restaurant was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of seats, so it seemed fine for groups or family gatherings too. It's known as a top sashimi spot in Goseong, so I heard it gets really busy on weekends and in peak season.

There were baby chairs too, so it looks like a good option for families with young kids as well.

What comes with the ₩69,000 medium sashimi platter to go?
I ordered the medium mixed sashimi platter to go from Bongpo Hoega! It was ready right on time — picked it up immediately ★ Full of expectations since it's known as a takeout sashimi spot in Bongpo :)

It came with lettuce, perilla leaves, simple side vegetables, vinegar-chili sauce, aged kimchi, sashimi, and shrimp. A clean, simple takeout setup.

Even though it was the medium size, I was surprised by how much sashimi there was! The composition was good too, with a nice variety of different fish.

How fresh did the sashimi taste?
The best part was that the sashimi was fresh. It had a chewy, springy texture that made the freshness really obvious.

I ate it plain, with aged kimchi, and wrapped in lettuce too — however I ate it, that chewy texture was great every time. The vegetables that came with it were fresh too, which I appreciated. Sometimes with takeout sashimi the vegetables have been sitting long enough that the peppers or garlic are dried out or browned, but there was none of that here. The portion was bigger than I expected too — I kept eating and eating, even doubling and tripling up bites, and it just wasn't running out! So I enjoyed it a lot. Next time I'll get the spicy fish stew to go along with it :)
It was a clean, enjoyable experience overall.
Bongpo Hoega on a Goseong café and restaurant list
The next day I went to a café in Goseong, and I noticed they had a list of recommended Sokcho and Goseong restaurants — and Bongpo Hoega was on it! That made me happy. Apparently it's a takeout spot personally recommended by the café owner.
If you're traveling around Gangwon-do and looking for a raw fish restaurant near Bongpo Beach in Goseong, how about Bongpo Hoega, known for its sashimi takeout? I kept it simple with takeout, but eating in the restaurant seems like it'd be great too, with all kinds of side dishes and seafood coming out. I'd like to try eating in myself next time!
