New Marine City gejang spot with 5 marinated seafood: Deodo Gejang
In short
Deodo Gejang is a Korean restaurant newly opened on the ground floor of Hanil Orduy in Marine City, Haeundae, Busan, after earning a name for gejang (marinated crab) in Yangsan. The assorted marinated seafood and nutrient pot rice set for two brought soy-marinated crab, spicy marinated crab, marinated abalone, shrimp and octopus with pot rice, finishing with the crispy scorched rice at the bottom. Deodo Gejang also lets families order fewer sets when elderly parents or children are at the table, which makes it an easy pick for a family meal.

Any gejang (marinated crab) lovers out there who've been wanting to try somewhere new?? Deodo Gejang, already recognized as a gejang favorite in Yangsan, has just opened a new location in Marine City, so I went to check it out. Even though the Marine City branch hasn't been open long, word is already spreading that it's a must-try gejang spot in the area.

Fitting for a restaurant in Marine City, the space felt clean and well put together. The tables have decent spacing and the hall is spacious, so it works well for a date for two, but it also looked like a great spot for a family visit or a group meal.
With its clean atmosphere and generous full-table spreads, I thought this restaurant would suit family dinners, group meals, and date nights alike.
What's on the menu at Deodo Gejang

Ground floor of Hanil Orduy: pairing Deodo Gejang with a Dongbaek Island walk

Deodo Gejang is located on the 1st floor of Hanil Orduy in Marine City, so it's easy to find. It's close to the Marine City residential complex, and also near The Bay 101, Dongbaek Island, and Nurimaru APEC House, so it's easy to pair a visit with some sightseeing or a walk in the area.

It'd be perfect for a day trip out to Marine City — eat a hearty meal here, then head over for a walk around Dongbaek Island. Since you can use the building's parking lot, it's also convenient if you're coming by car.
What arrives with the marinated seafood and pot rice set for two
We ordered the assorted marinated seafood and nutrient pot rice set, one portion each for two people. It's available starting from 2 people, and the dish centers on the assorted marinated seafood and pot rice along with several side dishes. But as the food started coming out one by one — wow, it was way more elaborate than I expected.

From the neatly plated assorted seafood platter to all the side dishes served alongside, the whole spread felt as generous as a full Korean course meal — I wanted to bring my parents here. If the assorted platter set looks this good, I'm definitely coming back~♡

The careful plating especially stood out — it looked so appetizing that I couldn't help but take photos of everything, haha.
The assorted marinated seafood platter, impressive at first sight

The assorted platter comes with a variety of marinated seafood, including soy-marinated crab, spicy marinated crab, marinated abalone, marinated shrimp, and marinated octopus.

Instead of just picking one, you get to try several different kinds at once, which made it fun to pick and choose which one to eat next.

From crab to abalone, shrimp and octopus, each one is plated in a different color and shape, so the whole spread looked pretty stunning on its own. Seeing this much care and quality in the assorted platter, I understood exactly why Deodo Gejang has become known as a gejang favorite in Marine City.
Jeju yellow crab gejang: clean, with no fishy smell
One thing that stood out about Deodo Gejang is that they only use domestic Jeju yellow crab, and use freshly caught rather than frozen crab. Apparently they focus on preserving the natural flavor of the ingredients by not freezing them. Maybe that's why — the gejang had none of the fishy or off smell you sometimes worry about, and I could enjoy the clean, natural flavor as it was.

The savory soy sauce marinade paired with the tender crab meat and warm pot rice made the rice disappear fast. If you're a gejang fan, this is a combination worth trying properly at least once.
Rounding out the meal with hot nutrient pot rice

I also liked that Deodo Gejang serves nutrient pot rice instead of regular rice. Putting crab meat on top of warm pot rice — need I say more about that combo, haha.
At the end, you even get to enjoy the nutty scorched rice at the bottom of the pot, which made the meal quite filling.

Why Deodo Gejang works with elderly parents and kids
Deodo Gejang is also a good place to visit for a family meal.

Tasting each side dish, none of them were overly strong in flavor, so they were comfortable to eat, seemed easy on the stomach, and felt made with good ingredients and care. In particular, the owner told us that when elderly guests with weaker digestion or children with smaller appetites come in, they don't have to order strictly by headcount — the restaurant will accommodate them. Knowing they think about these details makes it feel even more welcoming for families dining with kids or parents.
Having built its reputation on gejang in Yangsan, Deodo Gejang has newly settled into Marine City and it's easy to see why it's already becoming known as a gejang favorite. The assorted marinated seafood and nutrient pot rice set for two that we ordered was satisfying from the gorgeous presentation to the variety in the platter and the warm pot rice. Above all, the way the whole table filled up looked truly impressive, so it'd work well for a special meal too. If you're looking for a soy-marinated crab spot in Haeundae, it's worth stopping by Deodo Gejang in Marine City, where you can enjoy a variety of marinated seafood all at once. 🦀
