Gejang restaurant near Dongbaek Station, Haeundae: Deodo Gejang

Today's post is about a Marine City spot in Haeundae! A review of Deodo Gejang~ You've gotta eat seafood when you're in Busan, right? I heard they had really good gejang (marinated crab) so I went to check it out. And let me tell you, they set the table so full it's about to collapse under the food, haha. Let's get into this Marine City review of Deodo Gejang~

Deodo Gejang is on the 1st floor at 37 Marine City 3-ro, 103,104,105,106, Haeundae-gu, Busan (Udong, Hanil Ordu). It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with last order at 20:00.

How to walk to Deodo Gejang from Dongbaek Station

I walked over casually while sightseeing around Dongbaek Island. If you're taking public transit, just get off at Dongbaek Station and head over. It's a 13-minute walk from Exit 1, so it's not hard to reach even without a car!

It's on the 1st floor, and the place turned out to be pretty big!!

I'd heard it hadn't been open long

and maybe that's why the exterior looked so clean and sleek!

What is the dining room at Deodo Gejang like?

Inside, Deodo Gejang has light wood-tone interiors that give off a warm feeling~

It really felt like a cozy home-style rice restaurant, which put me in a good mood haha. I visited during lunchtime!

Being the busy hour, there were quite a few customers and the staff were bustling around, but the smell of rice drifting through in between was just so nice~

The full-table set menus were the main draw! There was an assorted marinated crab pot rice set that lets you try a variety of jang (marinated seafood) at once, plus a set with ajwu bulgogi or three kinds of grilled fish served alongside yellow crab.

There were also extra dishes and à la carte items! And takeout options too — honestly every single item looked like it'd make you eat bowl after bowl of rice. If only I lived closer, I'd have taken some home ㅠㅠ

Grilled fish, yellow crab and pot rice set for two: 48,000 won

What we ordered was the grilled fish and yellow crab pot rice set for two (₩48,000). After a short wait, the whole table was set up in no time. Ta-da~~

Here's everything laid out!! Isn't it seriously generous? A table set so full it's about to break under the weight! Felt like, wait, is today my birthday? kind of spread.

The main stars — grilled fish and yellow crab! Eek~! Just writing this post and looking at the photos makes my mouth water again ㅠ Can you see how golden and crispy that grilled fish is ㅠ

To make the crab easier to eat, they gave us plastic gloves and did a full-on takedown show right there. Honestly, just this one dish alone could finish off a whole bowl of rice~~

Crispy outside, tender inside, so well grilled — truly soft and delicious!! But here's the thing, there's another rice-thief here~~ the yellow crab~~ what comes out of it is amazing ㅠㅠ The seasoning is perfectly balanced to eat with rice, and that addictive salty flavor just keeps pulling your hand back for more haha.

And the rice that came with it was pot rice too!!

This is basically a table Koreans go crazy for, right? haha

How many side dishes come with the set?

Sticky, glossy rice topped with crab and fish — that's just heaven right there. And on top of that, Deodo Gejang's side dishes are seriously amazing too!

Bulgogi, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), jeon (savory pancakes), fritters and more — almost 10 kinds come out!! They're all rice-thieves so you finish your rice in no time haha.

I visited with my mom and she was really satisfied! The table was set so neatly and beautifully that it'd be great for family gatherings or get-togethers with friends too~~ It was such a delicious meal, I'd totally recommend it!
