Haeundae restaurant cabbage salad and ranch steak: Smith's Farm

In short

Smith's Farm is an Italian restaurant on the basement level near Dongbaek Station in Haeundae, Busan, known for stone octopus steak, pasta and gnocchi. Arriving right at opening on a weekday with three friends, the writer ordered shrimp oil pasta, Smith's cabbage salad, the SEAL stone octopus steak and the Smith's ranch steak with an iced Americano and fresh-pressed grapefruit juice. Even on a third or fourth visit the stone octopus steak stayed the number one pick at Smith's Farm, and reservations are recommended because the restaurant fills up fast.

Today I'm introducing a restaurant I genuinely love. I've already been three or four times and I recommend it to my friends every chance I get — Smith's Farm! It's already known as a Haeundae Italian restaurant, and this time I went with three friends. Even on a weekday visit it was packed. I get why it's so popular haha.

Smith's Farm is a stone octopus steak, pasta, and gnocchi specialist located on B1F, 31 Haeundae-ro483beongil, Haeundae-gu, Busan, a 5-minute walk from Dongbaek Station Exit 4. It's open daily 11:00–22:00, last order 21:00, with no break time.

With no break time, you can eat here any time of day! It's so popular that I strongly recommend booking ahead!

It's also famous as a Marine City go-to spot. There is a parking lot, but it's small, so public transit is the better bet.

Finding the basement entrance and how long the wait is

Smith's Farm is on the basement floor, and you can feel the vibe the moment you start down the stairs.

The entrance is clean and stylish, exactly what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. Even on a weekday there were already people at the door haha — I actually did an opening run.

There's signage right at the entrance. They also run CatchTable — meaning this place gets waits. There are waiting chairs too.

Farm-style interior and photo spots at Smith's Farm

The moment you step in, the farm-style interior that matches the name catches your eye. Natural wood tones with green plants placed throughout make for a warm, cozy atmosphere. So many cute little props too — this is really a photo zone!

The place is huge and the interior is so pretty. We were all charmed by the charming details. Worth doing an opening run just for the photos.

I've visited three or four times now, and every time the interior is kept just as spotless. The staff are always so kind too, that just being here puts me in a good mood haha. Even on a weekday every table was full, but you could tell the staff were taking careful care of everyone despite being busy.

What three friends ordered

The menu. That luxe orange reminiscent of Hermès!

The three of us ordered shrimp oil pasta, the cabbage salad, SEAL stone octopus steak, and the ranch steak. For drinks we got an iced Americano and fresh-pressed grapefruit juice. This is a place where I agonize over the menu every single time haha — everything looks like something I want to try!

The drinks came out first. We chatted away while sipping them as we waited.

Every time a dish landed on the table I got so happy. What more do you need in life — a happy pig is the best kind.

The plating is so pretty too. How am I even supposed to eat this?

But eat we must. Let me review each one.

Smith's cabbage salad

I don't usually eat much salad, but Smith's Farm's is genuinely different. The three of us cleaned the bowl in no time. I don't think a salad has ever impressed me this much haha. How do they make cabbage taste this good? It's a revolution. Dieters could probably fill up on this alone.

Shrimp oil pasta

The shrimp are plump and springy. It's oil-based so it's not heavy at all, and the subtle garlic aroma pairs perfectly with the noodles. The carrot rapé adds a bright, refreshing note too. People aren't exaggerating when they say the pasta sauce here is genuinely delicious.

Smith's ranch steak

A thick cut of meat cooked to just the right doneness, juicy and tender to bite into. And the staff kindly walked us through the dish too.

Why the SEAL stone octopus steak is the number one pick

And the best dish of this visit — the SEAL stone octopus steak!!

I've ordered this every single time across three or four visits, and it still makes me gasp each time. You'd think stone octopus would be chewy, but this place's version is genuinely different. The moment you bite in, you think, wait, is this really octopus? It's that tender. There's still that springy bite, but zero toughness — it practically melts in your mouth. The sweet pumpkin purée underneath ties it together beautifully and amplifies the octopus's umami. This combo is a stroke of genius.

Springy octopus, yet so tender...

My friends took one bite and went quiet, forks going in and out nonstop haha. If you come here, you have to order this. Genuinely gasp-worthy.

A regular's verdict after three or four visits

I've been to Smith's Farm three or four times now, and I recommend it to my friends every time. Clean interior, kind staff, and delicious food to top it off! The SEAL stone octopus steak especially — I'd confidently name it my number one pick among Haeundae's Italian restaurants. If you're looking for a great spot in Haeundae, or deciding on a restaurant near Dongbaek Station, Smith's Farm comes highly recommended!
