I was looking for somewhere to eat dinner and ended up at Hwassi2192 Nam-Yeoju Branch 2. It's a place that first-sears meat over oak firewood, and the sign out front says so in big letters: "oak firewood grilling."
The 2192 in the name is a Fahrenheit number — it corresponds to 1200°C, and apparently that's the actual temperature they use for the initial sear.
Where is Hwassi2192 Nam-Yeoju Branch 2? 2 minutes from Nam-Yeoju IC

Hwassi2192 Nam-Yeoju Branch 2 is 2 minutes from Nam-Yeoju IC. From Yeoju Premium Outlets it takes under 10 minutes. It's a convenient spot to stop before or after shopping.
There's a first branch in Bungnae-myeon, Yeoju, and this Gaam-eup location is the second.
Parking at Hwassi2192 and a café right out front

The parking lot is spacious. There's a generously sized parking area right in front of the building, so I didn't have any trouble finding a spot.
There's also a café right out front. No need to drive anywhere for coffee after the meal — you can just walk over. The same lot has a bunsik (Korean snack food) place and a few other shops too.
What does the 1,200°C oak firewood searing actually do?

The core of Hwassi2192 is its searing method. They first-sear the meat at high heat in an oak-fired furnace hitting 1200°C — 2192°F. Apparently they use specially developed domestic dust-collection technology to push the firewood temperature that high.
A short, high-heat sear cooks the surface quickly while trapping the juices inside. That's the principle behind a crisp exterior and a moist interior.
You can see the firewood-searing area near the entrance — you pass right by it and watch the meat and eel being smoked.
What we ordered: hanwoo striploin beef special, chadolbagi, doenjang sulbap

We ordered the beef special, one serving of chadolbagi, and doenjang sulbap.
The special is a set made up of hanwoo 1++ striploin. Steamed egg comes out as a complimentary side.
The chadolbagi comes sliced thin and only needs a light sear. Mixing it in with the other beef cuts gave a nice change of texture.

The staff grill the hanwoo for you, start to finish
This was the most comfortable part of eating at Hwassi2192 Nam-Yeoju Branch 2. Staff always grill the meat for you. It arrives already first-seared, and then they finish it off too, so there's really nothing to do at the table. No need to hold the tongs, no worrying about it burning.
They bring it to you perfectly grilled on the hot plate, and all you have to do is eat. There's no easier setup for chatting while you eat. They grill garlic and enoki mushrooms alongside it too.
How the staff tell you to eat each cut
The menu has instructions for how to eat printed on it. The pork comes pre-seasoned, so they suggest trying it plain first, without any dipping sauce, to taste the meat itself. You can ask for fresh wasabi if you want it.
Recommended pairings are listed too.
Full menu and origin labeling at Hwassi2192

The menu is split into grilled sets and à la carte items. Origin labeling lists eel (Japonica) and pork belly as domestic, and pork shoulder as from Chile.
Inside the restaurant: 120 seats, serving robots, ventilation
The place is very spacious. It has a wood-tone interior with a full-length window front, and 120 seats total between the room and the main hall.
The staff were genuinely kind. From grilling the meat to general service, you could tell they were paying attention. It was our first time there and they explained the menu in detail.
Serving robots roam around too, carrying food and dishes.
Ventilation is good — there's less of that typical BBQ-restaurant oil smell. Good for anyone who worries about their clothes smelling afterward.
The restrooms are clean, separated by gender and well maintained. Details like this change the impression of the whole place.
Private Oak Room for family gatherings and company dinners
There's a separate private room called the Oak Room. It looked well suited for family gatherings or group company dinners.
With ample parking and 120 seats, a larger group isn't a problem. Being right by Nam-Yeoju IC also makes it a decent meeting point for people coming from different areas. Apparently a lot of groups stop by after a round at a nearby golf course too.
Wine list at Hwassi2192 Nam-Yeoju Branch 2
It's a BBQ restaurant, but the wine selection is surprisingly extensive — a good match for the hanwoo beef special.
