Sunday evening couple dinner at a Gijang outlet restaurant: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is a European-style Western restaurant on the first floor of the Shinsegae Simon outlet mall in Gijang, Busan. On a Sunday evening visit for two, the order was shrimp rosé pasta (20,000 won), kung pao chicken pilaf (22,000 won) and a zero-sugar cola, but about half the menu was already sold out, so weekend diners are better off arriving early. The atmosphere at Bueokgan ranked in the top 3 of any restaurant visited in the past six months, and two dishes were filling enough for two people.

Since I was already at Gijang, I heard there was a restaurant with a super European vibe, so I went looking for Bueokgan (부엌간) haha. Expectations were fully loaded — let's go!

Where is Bueokgan in Busan Premium Outlets, and what are the hours?

Bueokgan Restaurant is on the first floor, unit 180, of Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets, 1133 Jeonggwan-ro, Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. Hours are weekdays 10:30–20:30 (last order 20:00) and weekends 10:30–21:00 (last order 20:30), and you can use the Busan Premium Outlets parking lot.

The Shinsegae outlet is huge, so you might think finding the store would be hard, but a map app makes it easy. The walk there felt like strolling through a little European village, and the mood was just so good..ᰔ It was fun, like hunting for a hidden local favorite spot in Europe haha.

Bueokgan is a 3-5 minute walk from the parking lot, and by the way it's on the first floor!

Isn't the exterior so pretty?! I got a little excited walking in haha. Oh, the restrooms are right beside the storefront! (The women's restroom needs a bit of a walk though.)

Inside Bueokgan: European-style interior, seating and how to order

Inside, Bueokgan is decorated like a European restaurant, with a waiting sofa placed at the entrance. Luckily there was no wait that day, so we were seated at a table right away and ordered.

The luxurious waiting sofa is the first thing you see when you walk in! Thankfully we got seated and ordered right away.

I'm not exaggerating, seriously. Of all the restaurants I've visited in the last six months, this one is easily in the top 3 for atmosphere...ㅠㅠ Hold your girlfriend's hand and come here — you're bound to get like five hundred compliments!

the right side haha. The interior is decorated so well like a European restaurant that you'll feel good no matter where you sit (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)ᰔ

Every table already has tableware (plates, forks, etc.) set up, so you just sit down and order.

If you need anything else — napkins, wet wipes, an apron — you can grab them from the center of the store. Bueokgan's menu is below 🤤 (swipe to see the full menu!) Soups, salads, pasta, gnocchi, lasagna, risotto, pilaf, steak, pizza.. the menu is really varied.

Why half the Bueokgan menu was sold out on Sunday evening

Since we visited on a Sunday evening, almost half the menu was sold out. I'd recommend visiting a bit earlier in the day on weekends!

What we ordered was

  • Shrimp rosé pasta ₩20,000
  • Kung pao chicken pilaf ₩22,000
  • + Zero-sugar cola ₩2,500

this combo. The kung pao chicken pilaf is spice level ♥♡♡ (level 1), so if you can't eat spicy food, or you're visiting with kids, it's good to keep that in mind when ordering!

Table setting at Bueokgan before ordering

The shrimp rosé pasta 🍝 came out first, and it came with pink pickles too..! With the cheese seasoning and plump shrimp on top, it looks so good 😋

Next came the kung pao chicken pilaf 🍗 The chicken is huge, big enough to cover about two-thirds of the rice. It looks so soft and juicy..

Ta-da. The visuals are insane~ Now for the taste review haha.

How the shrimp rosé pasta and kung pao chicken pilaf tasted

Bueokgan's shrimp rosé pasta had generous shrimp and the rosé sauce coated the noodles well without any of it feeling separate from the dish. The kung pao chicken pilaf's spice level 1 was about as spicy as shin ramyeon (a spicy instant noodle brand), and the two of us, both spice-weak, ate it just fine.

The shrimp in the pasta were generous and relatively large, giving it a nice bite. The rosé sauce coated the noodles well so nothing felt watery or off in the mouth! Shrimp and rosé is such a great combo ((๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)♥

Kung pao chicken cut with tongs and scissors

For the chicken, you get tongs and scissors to remove the bone and cut it into smaller pieces. The chicken was tender so cutting it wasn't hard at all. We're truly spice-weak, but it was only very slightly spicy haha. About the level of eating shin ramyeon? Just a tiny bit spicy but we ate it up just fine!

The fluffy rice was well seasoned, and eating it together with the chicken made for a subtly addictive flavor ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ Even though we only ordered two dishes for two people, we ended up super full. Really filling!

Baby chair prepared at Bueokgan

Can you bring kids to Bueokgan?

Bueokgan Restaurant is a YES Kids Zone with both baby chairs and baby tableware ready, so it seems convenient and nice for family visits too. I wonder if the chair in the photo counts as a baby chair..? haha

I'd love to come back to Bueokgan again next time with family during the Christmas season, to enjoy the great atmosphere and delicious food. Definitely planning to revisit 💯⋆。°✩
