What we ordered at Huni Gejang in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan

Searching for good eats in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan led us to Huni Gejang. This time we ordered a small jeongtong kkotgetang (traditional blue crab soup), ganjang gejang (soy-marinated raw crab), and even baby rice — came back nice and full.

When you're craving something really satisfying, sometimes you just want a proper bowl of rice to go with it. That's what brought us to Huni Gejang, a Yuryang-dong, Cheonan favorite! If you love crab, this is a place worth checking out — especially since ordering the crab soup and soy crab together meant getting both a soupy dish and a rice-thief side in one sitting. We came in early evening and lucked out with an empty dining room, so I could shoot freely. The place is big and impressively clean, which made me happy :)

Huni Gejang has a separate baby rice option, priced at ₩100. Since we visited with our child this time, we ordered it too.

I was worried since both the crab soup and soy crab are pretty seasoned for a kid, but there's baby rice made just for that! It made the meal so much easier :) 💘 And it's only ₩100,,! Can you believe it..!!!🫢 The adults could enjoy the crab soup and soy crab while the kid had their own rice — really great as a family dining option:) 🌈If you're looking for a family-friendly spot to eat in Cheonan, this is worth keeping in mind🌈

Ganjang gejang, the soy-marinated raw crab that steals your rice

Soy-marinated crab really has to be eaten with rice~ Pick the shell and meat apart carefully, pair it with rice, and the salty soy seasoning and crab meat flavor combine into something you just can't stop eating, ahh~~

Personally, I like soy crab best when you pile the meat onto warm rice instead of eating it alone💖 The soft texture of the crab meat plus the salty soy seasoning = a whole bowl of rice gone in no time 🍚! No wonder they call soy crab a rice thief!!

The hearty jeongtong kkotgetang (traditional blue crab soup)

The broth is really the key with kkotgetang‼️ It's great to drink the broth rich from the start, but letting it simmer longer as you eat brings out even more crab flavor into the broth — I was so happy eating this throughout the meal🥹 Especially after picking apart the crab meat, taking a spoonful of the broth gives you that distinct seafood crab flavor that makes you want to eat it with rice! If you love crab, you'll probably love this combo~ If you're after ganjang gejang and kkotgetang together in Cheonan, this place lets you enjoy both the soy crab and a warm soup dish, which was great:)

There's real fun in picking the meat out of a kkotgetang~~ Pick the meat from between the shells and eat it with the broth, and you really taste the clean flavor of the crab! Take a spoonful of broth with a bit of crab meat on top, enjoy the crab's own flavor along with the hot broth — it has a different charm from the soy crab entirely. So this day, eating both the soy crab and the crab soup, I felt like I properly enjoyed crab cuisine✨

It felt a bit short so we added 2 instant noodle refills — and this was also insane?! Eating noodles in the rich broth felt like camping haha. Everyone, if you go to Huni Gejang in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, you have to try this!! You hear me!!!

Huni Gejang has a prize draw game at checkout. Since 1st place was a ₩50,000 Shinsegae gift voucher, I had my kid do the draw.

Just as we were about to pay, they said there's a draw game, so I had Ddori try it lol. 1st place was a ₩50,000 Shinsegae voucher..!!!!!!! Please please~~ come up 1st place, 1st place~~ but we got 5th place and came home with Kkotgerang crackers lolol. Even the snack was crab-themed~~ 🦀 The owner has such a sense of humor👍🏻

What we ordered this time was jeongtong kkotgetang (small) + ganjang gejang + baby rice, three dishes total. The crab soup was great for its warm broth and crab flavor, while the soy crab paired perfectly with rice — ordering both together let us enjoy two very different charms. Visiting with our child and getting the baby rice too made this a filling family meal✨
