This is my review of 'Burger Bar,' where you can enjoy handmade burgers while feeling Gangneung's refreshing sea breeze!
Gangneung is known for burgers, makguksu (buckwheat noodles), and lots of other delicious food, but there's no shortage of great handmade burger spots either! Fun fact: Gangneung is quietly becoming a hot destination for handmade burgers these days. Among them, I visited Burger Bar, which combines Gangneung's unique local character with stylish interior design!
Where is Burger Bar? Hours and parking on Haean-ro
Burger Bar is located at 609 Haean-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea. Hours are 10:00-21:00 on weekdays and 11:00-19:00 on weekends, and there's parking for 5-6 cars in the lot in front of the building.
Beachfront exterior and inside Burger Bar
Burger Bar sits in a spot with a sweeping view of Gangneung's beach! The unique, clean-lined exterior is the first thing that catches your eye, decorated with cute burger-themed props, making it a great spot for photos!
The interior has a really unique vibe! It was hip yet clean, and I loved it!
The space is used well, so the tables have generous spacing. There are also plenty of tables outside, so on a nice day you can eat your burger at an outdoor table while looking out at the sea!
Ordering was done via kiosk, and if the kiosk seemed tricky, you could also order directly from the owner!
Self-serve bar and unlimited Gangneung potato chips
'Hygiene and cleanliness' — the part that always gets praised in Naver visitor reviews!
On one side of the restaurant, the self-serve bar has ketchup, mustard, napkins, and wet wipes neatly arranged, and it was great being able to watch the food being cooked in the open kitchen!
You could help yourself to unlimited potato chips made from Gangneung potatoes, which were perfect for snacking on while waiting for the burgers!

We ordered the signature squid burger, the light and savory chicken grill burger, fries (the soulmate of any handmade burger), and the cheese sticks, which are extra special since they're limited to one per person!
We sat at an outdoor table and waited, and the fries and burgers came out piping hot, fried fresh the moment we ordered!
Are the fries at Burger Bar worth ordering?
Fries, the soulmate of any handmade burger! Burger Bar's fries have real bite thanks to their moderate thickness. Fried fresh to order, they came out hot, with a crispy outside and a fluffy potato texture that really comes through. The salting was savory without being overly salty—just right!
Cheese sticks, one per person only
If you come to Burger Bar, don't ever skip this one—the cheese sticks, sold with a limit of one per person! Bite in and the cheese stretches endlessly, with a savory, salty natural cheese flavor that was so good, and the combo of crispy batter and chewy cheese was amazing! The sauce paired so well too, it was delicious even dipped into the fries!
Chicken grill burger with grilled chicken thigh
Packed generously with juicy chicken! This is the chicken grill burger. Instead of deep-fried chicken, it uses a chicken thigh patty carefully grilled, so you can enjoy it cleanly without feeling heavy. The patty is golden on the outside and juicy inside, and combined with the house-made grill sauce, cheese, and crisp vegetables, this handmade burger had such great form!
The signature squid burger
When you think of Gangneung, squid is the specialty that comes to mind!
Burger Bar's squid burger is an amazing menu item that perfectly reinterprets Gangneung's local character as a handmade burger patty!! It's packed with a truly big, crispy squid patty so you can really taste the squid, and they fried it with a spicy kick so it doesn't get greasy—the bread and squid went together so well! The side vegetable salad paired nicely too.
