Why Mannyeon Dakgangjeong was the snack stop in Jeonju Hanok Village

While wandering around Jeonju Hanok Village trying to decide on a snack, I stopped by Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store.

There's so much good food to try while exploring the hanok village, but sweet-and-savory dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken bites) looked like something everyone, young and old, could enjoy without hesitation, so I packed some right away.

Peeking into the shop, I could see the dakgangjeong being prepared. When I visited, I got to pack chicken that had just come out of the fryer, piping hot — even more exciting. Dakgangjeong really is best eaten warm, fresh out of the fryer.

What I packed this time was the spicy dakgangjeong. The moment I picked up the container, the savory fried scent and sweet sauce aroma drifted up, and I just wanted to dig in right away. The delicious smell kept coming the whole ride home, and I couldn't resist — I ended up eating it in the car, haha.

When I opened the box, it was packed with appetizing, sauce-coated chicken bites. The outside was evenly covered in a sweet-spicy sauce, and the batter still looked crisp — just looking at it made my mouth water.

How did the spicy dakgangjeong taste?

One bite in, the crispy-fried chicken combined with the sweet sauce was delicious. The sauce was evenly distributed throughout, so every piece delivered that same flavor. It wasn't too heavy or intense — more of an easy, casual snack style, which made it fine to share with a kid.

What I really liked was that I got dakgangjeong that had just come out of the fryer. Unlike dakgangjeong that gets soggy over time, this one still had some of that crisp texture when I first opened the box, and eating it while it was still warm definitely made it taste even better.

It would work well as a quick snack when you get hungry wandering the hanok village, or as takeout to enjoy as a late-night bite before heading back to your accommodation. It's good for kids as a snack, and adults could easily pair it with beer or a drink too.

Is Mannyeon Dakgangjeong worth a stop in Jeonju Hanok Village?

Jeonju Hanok Village has plenty to see and plenty to eat, but if you're looking for something simple to take out and eat on the go, the spicy dakgangjeong from Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store is worth a stop. Getting it warm, fresh out of the fryer, made it even more satisfying for me. If you like crispy chicken with a sweet sauce, it's a great snack pick for a hanok village outing. Between sightseeing and packing tasty dakgangjeong, it made for a simple but satisfying food outing. Next time I visit Jeonju Hanok Village again, I'd like to try other menu items too.
