Where is Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap in Paju?
Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap is a ssambap (wrap rice) restaurant at 55-10 Dolgoji-gil, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, near Simhaksan mountain and Paju Book City. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés around Simhaksan, but I wanted somewhere I could eat while soaking in the mountain atmosphere, so I went looking — and found this place, Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap. Since it's close to both Simhaksan and Paju Book City, it's easy to find, and it's also an easy stop if you're coming from Paju Lotte Outlet.
How to join the waitlist with Tablering
If you need to wait, you just put your name down on Tablering. Some busy restaurants still write names on paper or have no reservation system at all, so it's convenient that Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap uses Tablering.
The interior is spacious with plenty of tables, so it can handle group get-togethers too. It's a good spot for family gatherings or a meal out with friends.
Are ssam greens really unlimited at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap?
Wow... best of all, the ssam (wrap) greens at Deulkkot Ssambap are refillable. Unlimited ssam greens with prices being what they are these days? Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap really brings the service. There's a good variety of greens too — a great restaurant for anyone who loves vegetables.
There are baby chairs too, so it's a good choice for families with young kids or get-togethers with friends who have children.
Deuljeongsik and Kkotjeongsik: what comes with each set
The main menu items at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap are the Deuljeongsik and Kkotjeongsik sets. Prices differ depending on what's included, so keep that in mind. You can also add à la carte dishes, and there's a kids menu as well.

Wow... there's ice cream and hemp-seed crackers too. Such a wide dessert lineup — the service at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap is amazing. I have to have some after the meal. There's ice cream and hemp-seed crackers, both things I love... maybe I should eat a little less rice, haha.

The Deuljeongsik banchan spread
The side dishes for the Deuljeongsik set arrived at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap. I felt like I could finish a bowl of rice on the banchan (side dishes) alone, haha.
Salad, gangdoenjang, pumpkin porridge, assorted namul (seasoned vegetables), yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi), stir-fried anchovies and more — a wide variety of side dishes are laid out.
The ssam greens are also incredibly generous. Getting to eat these greens again — good, good!
Stir-fried pork and squid, half and half
This is the Deuljeongsik's stir-fried pork (jeyuk bokkeum) and stir-fried squid. They come out split half and half, and the staff say mixing them together is a treat too. Eat it however suits you — try each separately, mix them, eat with rice, or wrap them in ssam greens for a variety of flavors.
Doenjang stew came out too.
Kkotjeongsik grilled mackerel and stone-pot rice with nurungji
Since you can order one Kkotjeongsik and one Deuljeongsik set separately, the grilled mackerel came with it. There's a choice between Atka mackerel and regular mackerel, but they serve it as grilled mackerel — good to know!!
The rice is cooked in a stone pot, which makes it even tastier. And after eating the rice, you can make nurungji (scorched rice) from what's left in the pot, which is a nice touch — nurungji is easy on the stomach too.
The doenjang stew is generous too. Both gangdoenjang and doenjang stew can be refilled on request — the owner is incredibly generous. If you love gangdoenjang and doenjang stew, definitely ask for a refill and eat even more, haha.
It was a well-rounded meal all around. If you're looking for a Korean set-course or ssambap restaurant near Simhaksan, I'd recommend checking out Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap. It's also close to Lotte Outlet, so I imagine a lot of shoppers stop by too.
With dessert after the meal, it felt like a complete dining course. It's a menu older folks would especially enjoy too, and I think it'd be a great spot to bring parents or host a gathering, haha.
