Spicy bone BBQ and lemon draft beer in Euljiro: Eulji Baektan
In short
Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is a white-charcoal grilled pork bone restaurant right in front of Exit 11 of Euljiro 3-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. On a Monday evening the first floor was full, but the writer was seated upstairs on the second floor with no wait and ordered the level-3 spicy grilled bones (about as hot as buldak bokkeum myeon), rice balls and lemon draft beer. The meat pulled cleanly off the bone in a sweet-spicy sauce and the rice balls cooled the heat, making Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui a good pick for an offbeat drinking spot in Euljiro.

I had an evening plan in Euljiro and was craving something spicy, so I went out for spicy grilled bones. 😎 I usually love charcoal grilling, but I don't think I've ever properly had grilled bones before, so I was pretty excited.

Where is Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui and when is it open?
Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is at 110-2 Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul, and it's open daily from 11am to midnight (last order 11pm). Naver reservations are available, and it's fine for groups or takeout.
It's 1 second on foot from Exit 11 of Euljiro 3-ga Station..! There's no parking, so you'll need a nearby public lot. It's right next to Dalmajipark Square Barbecue, which I visited recently, and the place is split across two floors, so it's actually pretty spacious!

Was there a wait on a Monday evening?
Since it was a Monday, a weekday, I figured it'd be a bit quieter, but when I got there the place was absolutely packed. 🤣

The first floor was full all the way to the back, so at first I thought we'd have to wait, but luckily there were seats upstairs, so we got in right away with no wait..!

A place that's been on TV a lot..!

The second-floor seating and retro interior
The second floor was relatively spacious. It looked like it could comfortably fit a group too.

The interior has that distinctly retro Euljiro atmosphere,

and it matched really well with the old, worn Euljiro alley outside, making it a great spot for a drink. 🥰

The menu and how to pick a spice level
The menu has a good range beyond the baektan grilled bones — grilled cuttlefish, fried cuttlefish, chadol odregi, bone gamjatang (bone and potato stew), and more. There are also meal items that go well with the grilled bones, like potato pancake, rice balls, and kimchi noodle soup, so it seems great for a group ordering a bunch of things.
- Baektan grilled bones can be ordered with adjustable spice levels
- Level 1: a little spicy
- Level 2: about like Shin Ramyun ←recommended
- Level 3: about like Buldak Bokkeum Myeon ←recommended
- Level 4: very spicy
- Lunch specials are also available — bone hangover soup, beef bossam garlic scape bibimbap, and more!

Maybe because the grilled bones are spicy, they bring out a huge portion of cabbage salad.

Lemon draft beer and rice balls at Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui
Probably thanks to good turnover, the draft beer was tasty as ever! I also tried the lemon draft beer — refreshing and easy to drink. 😆 They also sell lemon soju packed with lemon, which I'm definitely trying next time..!

Rice balls made with seasoned laver flakes and mayonnaise. 😆 They pack the rice by hand in disposable plastic, and the savory smell alone was already amazing...!

How spicy are the level-3 grilled pork bones?
The spicy grilled bones arrived with grilled green onion. I ordered level 3, about like Buldak Bokkeum Myeon. 😁

Shape the rice balls firmly and roll them around the bowl of grilled bones — ready to eat!
The look was a bit intimidating, but I dove right in!! The meat pulled off the bone way more easily than expected. The sauce was spicy-sweet with a subtle smoky char that made it delicious.
The meat wasn't tough at all — soft and easy to eat.

Eating the spicy sauce and mixing in a bite of the subtly smoky grilled green onion each time 👍 On top of that, eating the rice balls together with the spicy sauce toned down the heat just enough and made it smoother — it worked really well.

Who is Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui best for?
It has that trendy "hip-jiro" vibe people talk about these days, and the concept itself — charcoal-grilled bones — felt fresh, so I enjoyed it a lot as a Euljiro spot. 😆 If you want something different from the usual Euljiro grill houses for a drink, or you're looking for a Euljiro spot to take a group, I'd recommend this one. 👍
Spicy grilled bones plus a cold lemon draft beer — if you're looking for a place to drink in Euljiro, I recommend Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui~
