Suwon private-room bar with gopdoritang: Manseokjip

In short

Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch is a private-room Korean bar in Suwon, Gyeonggi. We had Korean beef gopdoritang, tofu half-block spicy pork and kimchi, Spam-topped rice, and chocolate bingsu. A great pick for relaxed drinks and a meal near Suwon Station.

A private-room bar five minutes from Suwon Station, in the Rodeo main district

It is right in Suwon Station Rodeo's main shopping district, so the access is really good! You can get here in five minutes from Suwon Station, so it is easy even if you are on foot, and you can dash back in time for the subway too.

It occupies the second and third floors of the building, so head on up first. A staff member greeted us right away, and we went up to the third floor!

Private-room amenities and tablet ordering

There is a row of private rooms, and they even have a smoking room. I guess it is because it would be hard for smokers to keep going up and down between the second and third floors, so they set aside a smoking room. Thoughtful.. ✨

There are lots of shelves in the room for hanging clothes or setting down bags. Bags quietly take up a lot of space, so it was great that we could each keep ours somewhere close to our seats. Especially for women, you can put your bag down and touch up your makeup right away. It was our first visit, so we read the house rules too. Most of it was common-sense stuff. It looked like birthday celebration events were possible too!!

You order on a tablet. Since it is a private-room bar, it also had games, chat, and fortune-telling features. We came to chat among ourselves, so we did not try them, but I wondered if you could somehow communicate with other rooms too. We had not eaten yet, so we ordered Korean beef gopdoritang (spicy braised chicken with beef intestine), tofu half-block spicy pork and kimchi, and steamed rice.

When you sit down, they bring chicken drumsticks as the complimentary snack, and they were tasty. Be careful not to fill up on the complimentary snack! We also tried the trendy Saero omija (five-flavor berry) and soda combination. I totally recommend it. It tastes like a soft drink!

Steamed rice and tofu spicy pork and kimchi, good for a meal too

The steamed rice arrived, and for ₩1,500, it even came topped with Spam and was a generous portion—enough for two women to share. I recommend it for anyone coming to drink while having a proper meal too.

The spicy pork arrived first. Just look at that color. Tofu, meat, and kimchi—perfect, right?

I piled tofu with meat, kimchi, and perilla leaf and really enjoyed it. Spicy pork and kimchi seems like it would be hard to make bad, but I think it is also quietly hard to make truly delicious—and this one really was. The tofu was soft with none of that distinctive fishy smell, and the meat and kimchi were delicious without any off smell too!!

Korean beef gopdoritang loaded with meat and beef intestine

Next, the Korean beef gopdoritang came in. Honestly, I was not expecting much, but it was more plentiful than I thought.

There was quite a lot of meat and beef intestine in it. You know how so many places call something gopdoritang but it is mostly potatoes and noodle add-ons? Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch (만석집 수원역점) is different. Glass noodles come as standard, and we added udon noodles too, so there were lots of noodles and they were chewy and delicious. It also had rice cakes and potatoes; the potatoes felt a little firm, but the rice cakes were super chewy and delicious!!!

Review-event chocolate bingsu and the restrooms

They said you could get Lotus or chocolate bingsu (shaved ice dessert) for writing a Naver review, so we asked for chocolate. Bingsu after drinks.. it is seriously delicious. It was piled high with toppings and even ice cream, making it such a great sweet finish!! The bingsu is delicious too—this place really gets my approval.

The restrooms are separated by gender. The men's room is on the third floor and the women's room is on the second, so I liked that they were clearly separate. Suwon Station is an area that has been around for a long time, so the building itself feels old, but it seemed to be maintained. There was no unpleasantness at all.

From dates to group get-togethers

According to the introduction, there are various rooms for two to ten people. Since they are private rooms, I think you could comfortably enjoy it not only for dates, but also group blind dates, meetings, company dinners, birthday parties, and every kind of occasion!!

They say the manager personally researches and ferments a special sauce, and maybe that is why the food to go with drinks was honestly so delicious. When the food is good even when you come for drinks, you end up drinking more, right? I plan to come back just because I am curious about the other dishes 🤭 The snacks are all fundamentally delicious, so I recommend coming with a group, ordering a variety, and tasting lots of things.

The staff would immediately ask whether we needed anything if we seemed to be hesitating, and they brought orders right out. Thanks to the very kind staff, we had an even more enjoyable time!!
