Where is Bueongi Sanjang Beomgye Branch? 3 minutes from Beomgye Station Exit 2

This Beomgye bar, Bueongi Sanjang Beomgye Branch, is a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 of Beomgye Station, on the 2nd floor of the Pyeongchon 1st Street Culture Street.

The entrance you see right as you step off the elevator! You can already tell the vibe's going to be good from here .. 🤍
The place is huge and can seat a lot of people, so it doesn't seem like waits would form easily, but on weekends it does get packed, so use CatchTable if there's a line!

Group seating and wood interiors that feel like a mountain lodge
This Beomgye bar, Bueongi Sanjang Beomgye Branch, is huge, and the wood interior throughout gives it a warm, cozy atmosphere.

True to its name ("sanjang" means mountain lodge), the interior really does feel like you've stepped into one!
In particular, the lodge-style decorations and the warm, cozy lighting set up around the space really elevate the atmosphere even more.
The window seats especially have big windows all around, and on nice-weather days they open them wide up — which gives that same open, breezy feeling as sitting at an outdoor pojangmacha!

Whether a bar has a restroom inside matters a surprising amount — here the restroom and smoking room are both inside the venue, so it's all convenient to use.

There's also a dedicated phone charging station ⚡
Bueongi Sanjang menu: from gopdoritang to ice cream hotteok

This Beomgye bar, Bueongi Sanjang Beomgye Branch, has a really wide range of anju (drinking snacks) ready to go — gopdoritang, jeongol (hot pot), eomuktang (fish cake soup), jeon (savory pancakes), sul-jjim (steamed dishes with alcohol), yukhoe (beef tartare), dubu kimchi (tofu with kimchi), meoktae gui (grilled dried pollock), and more. There are also plenty of lighter options like sherbet, old-style toast, and ice cream hotteok, so it also works well as a second-round Beomgye bar.

The drinks lineup was really varied too — highballs, makgeolli, bokbunja (black raspberry wine), distilled spirits, liqueurs, and plenty of new releases like Saero Apricot, Saero Omija, and Buttery Chamisul. They even sell Condition hangover-relief jelly!

Gopdoritang (31,000 won): a broth that deepens as it simmers
Gopdoritang set up on the burner! This is spicy dakdoritang (braised spicy chicken) with gopchang (beef/pork intestines) added in — a great pick as a drinking snack.

It comes with glass noodles and rice cake included by default, and you can add extra noodles, rice cake, or gopchang, so it's easy to customize toppings to your taste.

There's a generous amount of chicken and gopchang, and plenty of vegetables like onion and potato, so the broth never feels heavy and instead has a subtle sweetness pulled through it.
The broth was spicy and really rich, and it kept getting deeper the longer we boiled it — plus the fat rendering out of the gopchang made it more savory. It's the kind of dish that gets better the more you cook it.
The gopchang was nice and savory, and the chicken was all tender thigh meat with no dry bits, so I picked through every last piece! Adding a rice ball or fried rice near the end once most of it's eaten is a great move too.
Corn cheese pancake (15,000 won) with condensed milk and injeolmi powder

Do I even need to say how well a spicy dish and a sweet-savory dish go together...😉

The corn cheese pancake is crisply fried and drizzled generously with condensed milk, then topped with savory cheese and injeolmi (sweet rice cake) powder.

The edges are crispy, and it gets softer toward the center where the cheese pools thick, with corn kernels popping in between for a fun texture with every bite!
That sweet, savory flavor just pairs perfectly with beer..💛
Yuja ade (5,000 won): a good call if you don't drink

This Beomgye bar, Bueongi Sanjang Beomgye Branch, has a wide range of alcohol on offer, but they also serve ade drinks for anyone who doesn't drink ‼️

At the counter there's even candy, floss, and mouthwash set out for freshening up afterward — nice touch from the owner!
