I recently went to the Dongdaemun wholesale market with a friend who runs an online shop on the side — it's been a while! We wandered around excitedly checking things out, and by the end we were a bit peckish and it felt like a waste to just go straight home, so we decided to have a light drink somewhere with a bit of atmosphere.

After a frantic round of searching for where to go, I found a hot wine bar near Sindang-dong with genius vibes and headed straight there! Today I'm introducing Plot, a bar near Sindang Station where you can enjoy a drink in a swanky mood 🍸
Where Plot is and what the black-toned interior looks like

Plot is on the first floor of a mixed-use building close to a Sindang Station exit, so I found it easily without getting lost! Since it's inside the building, the restroom is kept nicely clean too — a big plus for women, I thought 👍

The moment I opened the door and stepped in, the sleek black-toned mood with pin spotlights as accents hit me — the atmosphere was insane.

It's exactly the dim, moody bar interior I personally love, so I was hooked the second I walked in.

Seating at Plot: bar seats, tables and details to look at
Plot's seating is made up of cozy table seats and bar seats, good for solo drinking or a date where you can watch the wine being made.

On the wall behind the bar seats, cute penguin-character merch T-shirts were hanging,

and on one side there was a cluster of polaroid photos from past visits, fun to look through. It's so nice for conversation in the quiet, cozy atmosphere — I'd highly recommend it as a Sindang bar for a relaxed catch-up with a friend or for setting the mood!

On one side of the store, they'd thoughtfully set out a basket for coats or bags and even blankets. I fell for the owner's invisible attention to detail all over again 🥹
Table setting and QR code ordering at Plot

Once we sat down at our table, the staff first brought out wet towels and water. The system was to scan the QR code on the neat sign on the table to check the menu, then call staff over to order.

To set a light mood, we ordered two glasses of wine and finger food that pairs well with wine!

Right after we ordered, they brought out clean tableware along with pistachios as a complimentary snack! I'm not usually a nut person, but the crunchy texture kept my hand going back for more as a wine pairing.

How the two glasses of wine tasted: Pecorino and Prosecco
Then came the glasses of wine 🥂

White wine (Terre di Chieti Pecorino): ₩20,000 — my friend's white wine had a fresh fruity aroma balanced with a mild acidity that wasn't overpowering, going down clean and easy.

Sparkling wine (Villa Sandi Il Fresco Prosecco): ₩18,000 — the sparkling I ordered had a zesty fizz with a tangy sourness in a dry style! It matched my taste for bright, acidic sparkling wines perfectly, and I enjoyed it so much 🤍

Sweet shrimp tartare (3pc), 12,000 won
Sweet shrimp tartare (3pc): ₩12,000. And then the sweet shrimp tartare that caught my eye from the look of it alone!

It came piled generously with sweet, chewy sweet shrimp on top of crispy, savory gim-bugak (crispy seasoned seaweed), gently topped with fragrant dill. The dill completely masked any faint fishy taste the seafood might have had, and the crunch of the gim-bugak with the rich sweet shrimp mixed together in the mouth for a genuinely upscale flavor!

The ceramic side plates the food came on here were so pretty... just setting an appetizer on top makes you want to take a photo 📸

Thanks to the aesthetic dishware and the quality of the menu, it was a perfect Sindang restaurant for a date course, and also a hip bar-restaurant near Sindang Station.
Verdict: is Plot a good second stop after Dongdaemun or Sindang-dong?

This was the best spot for having dinner first in the Dongdaemun or Sindang-dong area, then coming here for a quiet glass of wine and conversation as a second stop! I was so satisfied with everything from the atmosphere to the wine lineup to the tasteful snacks that I'm planning to come back on a date with my boyfriend soon 🤍
