Why a new mom went looking for a hair salon near Dongtan Station

Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch is a hair salon on the 2nd floor of the Dongtan Station Lotte Castle commercial complex, and this time I got blue-black hair color and a bob cut. I'd been really worn out from parenting lately, and kept thinking about changing up my hairstyle.

With a kid to take care of, it's hard to visit a salon often, and even when I do go, I want a style that's easy to manage and stays neat. So this time I went to Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch, which is easy to get to near Dongtan Station. Wait for Mom's transformation, son!

It's located in a commercial complex inside the Dongtan Station Lotte Castle, very close to Dongtan Station — you can even walk there from the station! First, here's my before look. It looked a bit messy, my perm from a few months ago had loosened, and I wanted some kind of change.

The things I usually care about when picking a salon are location, consultation, results, and aftercare — and after visiting Juno Hair Dongtan in person, I was very satisfied overall, so today I'll focus this review on before and after!

I usually don't think too much about it, but looking back at the photo I took before the treatment, the color felt a bit unkempt and different from the fall/winter mood I had in mind. So this time I decided to really commit to changing the color.

The hand-washing sink outside the salon

Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch opened during the Covid era, so to keep up thorough personal hygiene, there's a hand-washing space outside the salon. It looked too nicely furnished and decorated to just be a wash space, and it turns out the director personally commissioned this hand-washing sink..! Juno Hair's kids' room: can you bring your child?

Reflecting Dongtan's character as a neighborhood with lots of parenting moms, Juno Hair Dongtan has a kids' room inside the salon. As a mom raising a kid, this was such a welcome space.

The consultation that settled on blue-black

This treatment was done by the director of Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch. Before coloring, we first talked through the color I wanted and my hair's current condition. I'd also been considering a deep brown, but since I wanted a calmer mood overall, the director and I settled on blue-black.

The nice thing about blue-black is that it doesn't have to look strongly blue at all — it looks like a natural black in everyday light, and only shows a subtle hint of blue when it catches the light. That was exactly the kind of understated transformation I wanted while raising a kid.

A bob cut shaped with weight at the ends

After the consultation, the director first cut and shaped my hair overall. To suit my head shape and style (I have a defined jawline), she styled it with some weight rather than making it too light, and the cut after coloring matched the color so well — I was so satisfied! Turns out she's a true master of the bob cut at Juno Hair near Dongtan Station!

After the simple cut, the coloring began. While she carefully applied the dye and I waited, I was so curious how the finished color would turn out — and there were books and simple drinks so I wouldn't get bored, letting me relax through the process.

Blue-black in particular can look different depending on lighting, so I was really looking forward to seeing how it would look in natural light once finished. After some time, shampoo and finishing styling, it was finally done! Curious about the after photos, right? Oh, but before that — during the post-color shampoo, she gave my scalp a water-punch massage, and it felt so, so refreshing!!

What do you think! Overall it felt so much calmer and cleaner, and the cool tone I wanted matched the fall/winter mood perfectly — I was so satisfied. I hadn't been able to make any real change for about two years because of pregnancy and childbirth, so I'd been a bit sad about that, and this treatment after such a long time was truly satisfying!

Even after the coloring, the staff carefully shampooed my hair, and the director trimmed it once more with her own hands!

It's a treatment I genuinely love in everyday life! I used to avoid taking selfies since I only ever looked tired from parenting, but now I feel confident! You can really see how pretty the blue-black shows up against black clothes, right!

Postpartum hair loss and how to keep the color longer

Over the roughly 3-hour treatment, the director gave me lots of tips about my scalp and hair condition and how to care for it afterward. In particular, as someone seven months postpartum, my hair has really been falling out a lot, and she kindly recommended supplements that could help,,, the best!

She also advised that since color naturally fades with every shampoo after a coloring treatment, it's important to use a color-lock shampoo to help maintain it! Thanks to that, even about two weeks later, I'm still keeping this pretty color.
