From the busy schedule at BEXCO to hopping between hot restaurants and cafés in Gwangalli, my packed Busan itinerary was finally coming to a close. And when you're in Busan, there's one soul food that's as essential as gukbap (Korean soup with rice) — milmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), the dish that cools you down from head to toe!

Racing against my train time, I went looking for somewhere near Busan Station where I could eat quickly and well, and ended up at Yeongdong Milmyeon Busan Station Branch, already known among travelers and locals alike as a great-value spot. Cool milmyeon and juicy dumplings that washed away all my travel fatigue — here's the full review!

How long is the walk from Busan Station, and is there a wait or luggage space?

Yeongdong Milmyeon Busan Station Branch is about a 3–5 minute walk from Exit 5 or Exit 7 of Busan Station, right at the start of the alley across from Busan Station plaza. It's perfectly located for a stop right before or after riding the KTX, which made it the best possible choice for me, completely drained from lugging a heavy suitcase around.

Even though I arrived in that awkward late-afternoon lull past mealtime, the restaurant was, true to its reputation, quite busy inside. But because milmyeon turns over tables fast and there are plenty of tables in the restaurant, even with a wait you don't sit long before a seat opens up — so if you're a bit short on time, you don't need to worry much. There's also luggage storage space near the entrance, a nice touch of consideration for travelers.

Yeongdong Milmyeon Busan Station Branch menu and prices: real prices in 2024?

Sitting down and looking at the menu board on the wall, I was genuinely stunned. In this era of rising prices, in prime real estate in front of a train station packed with foot traffic, I couldn't believe they were keeping prices at this level.

  • Mul milmyeon / bibim milmyeon: choice of large or small size (the value here is genuinely excellent!)
  • King mandu: milmyeon's eternal sidekick, not optional but essential

The menu isn't complicated — it's focused entirely on milmyeon and mandu. That specialist confidence gave me trust in the food before I'd even taken a bite. Unable to give up either flavor, I placed a very decisive order: mul milmyeon, bibim milmyeon, and king mandu.

The warm kettle broth that arrives before the noodles

Once you order at Yeongdong Milmyeon Busan Station Branch, the first thing they bring out is a kettle full of warm broth. Pouring the milky broth into a cup and taking a sip, a rich bone-based base with deep, savory saltiness spread through my mouth. A pleasant, slightly sharp hint of pepper lingered at the finish, perfectly warming my stomach before the cold milmyeon arrived.

Mul milmyeon: ice chips floating in bone-chilling cold broth

Finally, the mul milmyeon I'd been waiting for! On top of clear, rich broth with pretty floating ice chips sat chewy-looking noodles, pickled radish, julienned cucumber, seasoning sauce, and, as the finishing touch, a boiled egg, all beautifully stacked.

Before mixing in the sauce, I drank the broth first — a subtle herbal aroma lingered without being too strong, a clean flavor that would appeal to just about anyone. Adding a swirl of vinegar and mustard to taste and mixing in the noodles, a sweet-and-tangy savoriness exploded. What stood out most was the texture — chewy in that distinctive milmyeon way, but unlike naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), it breaks apart easily rather than being tough.

Bibim milmyeon: sweet, savory heat that most people can handle

Yeongdong Milmyeon Busan Station Branch's bibim milmyeon comes piled generously with a vivid red special sauce that grabs your attention before you even take a bite. Every time you toss it with chopsticks, a nutty sesame oil aroma rises up — wonderful. Take a big slurpy bite, and pleasant spiciness and sweetness balance perfectly.

The sauce isn't heavy, with a clean finish, so it kept pulling me back for more. The toppings and chewy noodle texture worked well together, and the spice level was mild enough that even people who can't handle heat well could enjoy it.

King mandu: a packed side dish that steals the show

When milmyeon alone feels 2% short, you have to order the king mandu! A steaming, oversized meat dumpling arrives right in its steamer basket. Inside the thin, chewy wrapper, ground meat, glass noodles and vegetables like chives are packed in without a single gap, so the moment you bite in, hot juices burst through your mouth. It's great alongside the cold mul milmyeon broth, and especially good dipped deep into the spicy bibim milmyeon sauce — the flavor synergy is incredible.

Is Yeongdong Milmyeon Busan Station Branch worth it? Final verdict

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 out of 5)

Yeongdong Milmyeon Busan Station Branch isn't famous simply for being cheap — it's a genuinely great restaurant, built on solid basics done with real care. All the fatigue and lingering regrets from a busy Busan trip that went from BEXCO all the way to Gwangalli felt like they washed away with one drop of that cool milmyeon broth.

If you're looking for a restaurant near Busan Station with excellent value, great taste, and perfect accessibility all at once, I'd recommend this place without hesitation. I plan to stop by again without fail before boarding the KTX on my next trip to Busan, just to enjoy that coolness again!
